I have my Inguinal hernia operation today at 2pm

No liquids after 10 am this morning. We will be leaving here at 11am. It is being done at the University of Missouri main hospital. This is my second surgery. My first was 50 odd years ago. I had a torn cartilage in my knee. It was awful when they mixed up my pain meds. Then they used Demerol, which freaked me out totally. So I am a little nervous. Many of you have had surgery, and you all are still here.

I will return as soon as I can to let you all know the results.

Good luck with your surgery.. I had my surgery in February. It was about a 30 minute surgery. The first week was the most uncomfortable, because I had to be careful about the internal stitches pulling.
After that, I took it easy for another week. I had very little pain, and only took one opiod pill, After that, I was on Tylenol.

I've had lots of surgery Paco and they always have a little bit of trouble getting me to wake up afterward because I love the trip a bit too much. The pre-op drugs in particular are so very nice. Hope you're enjoying them Paco and back home as soon as you want to be.

My only surgery was for an inguinal hernia. Owing to the gross inefficiency of the NHS, I had to wait 6 months for that only to have the surgeon say that she would have done it privately with minimum wait. The op was done with a local anaesthetic, so no bad after effects and a short recovery time. The whole procedure was like something out of Monty Python.

Thank you all for the well wishes. I am just now starting to feel "functional" again. It felt like I got kicked by a mule in the stomach. The surgery went well. He repaired both sides of the Inguinal hernias, and fixed the umbilical hernia I have had for several years while the robot assisted in the Laparoscopic surgery. Recovery will take a few weeks. I have to remember to go easy with my activities for awhile. I am very glad to be back. I miss taking part in the forum.
