I hired a cleaning lady

There's a house cleaning company in my area. They charge $110/visit. I was using them twice a month. They were supposed to send two people, but they were having a hard time finding employees, who stayed more than a week. So only one showed up. She gave my place a quick run through and out the door. For the money i was paying them, I wanted clean, not a quickly wipe down. So I got off my butt, and I'm the fulltime cleaning lady.
BTW, in my rural, very middleclass neighborhood, ain't nobody coming to your house for no lousy $25/hr.
Conversely I live in a very upmarket area, where Celebs of many genres live ... and most would never dream of paying £25 an hour for cleaning .I suppose it depends what the minimum wage is in the area.. here it's around £9... so paying £12-£15 an hour is looked on as a decent wage. It's house cleaning not brain surgery

It’s kind of sad that the most fortunate are willing to pay the least.

It may not be brain surgery, but it is a valuable skill that requires honesty, discretion, and dependability.

IMO $25.00/hour is a fair wage for a part time job with no benefits.

Especially when that job requires you to move from location to location every two to four hours at your own expense.

I've done this job..not only in my own home, so I know what housework entails, but when my daughter was very small and I'd just got divorced from her father, and couldn't take a full time job because of her school hours..I cleaned 7 houses a week.. and a car showroom, and a bathroom & kitchen company showroom and offices ..so I know exactly what's involved...

when I broke my foot, my daughter found us a cleaning lady. She is a gem! Comes every two weeks, works hard, charges by the job,not the hour. Even after my foot healed, we kept her on. Love her.
