I Hope The Jury Finds Dylann Roof Guilty & is sentenced to be shot in the head

The jury is out and I can't believe they could find him anything but GUILTY of Pre Meditated First Degree Murder with malice aforefront.

They should take the gun that he used and have one of the surviving family members shoot the little bastard in the head

I'm sure they will find him guilty. How could they not when he admitted to this heinous crime. I doubt the sentence will be what you suggest though.

Lon, your idea is a little too gruesome for me, made me think of this quote attributed to M.K. Gandhi “An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."

I heard on the radio Lon, that they found him guilty on all counts. More time and money will be spent on him whether he gets life in prison or the death sentence. I agree, that those guilty of such heinous acts of murder should be killed in the same way their victims were killed. Maybe that would make a dent in the murders of innocent people. If he slaughtered my husband the way he killed those nice folks in that church, I'd have no problem at all pulling the trigger, maybe he'd give me one last smile.

There is no deterrent/cure for psychopaths at this time. Although I rage at the horror which they gleefully inflict on the innocent, and have been tempted more than once to retaliate in kind---particularly after seeing court pics of mangled kids, I still believe that capital punishment damages the humanity those who participate in it.

He admitted guilt and likewise the jury found him guilty.

Hopefully he'll get the death penalty and not life......he's 22 years old why in the hell should we feed, clothe and provide him medical care for the next 60 or so years ?

One more time........He Admitted Guilt......Exterminate Him.

I do believe that people who enjoy revengeful killing of criminals are also committing murder and are just as vile as those who committed the crimes.

Exactly, if there's a doubt that he killed all those innocents in cold blood, then I would be against the death penalty, but there is no doubt. I say exterminate him and do it quickly, don't waste any more money on this piece of trash than necessary.

How about this character, whose execution is finally set after 20 years of us paying to give him 3 hots and a cot....and they're STILL trying to get him off! He said that killing those people who worked in that restaurant "felt better than sex", and they were all stupid anyway...but wait...maybe he had an undiagnosed disorder at the time, and Gov. Hickenlooper feels so bad having to make the decision to execute. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.1336967. These families deserve there (too) long awaited justice! As far as I know, he's still enjoying cable TV without having to pay the bill.

You're entitled to your opinion. It's not about enjoying the killing of these dangerous criminals, it's about giving justice to the families who grieve their dead, dead loved ones killed for no good reason, dead family members who they'll never see again. It's about punishment of those who feel free to kill for hateful reasons.

He admitted it. He laughed in the courtroom when they read his confession. He said he it was his intent to kill blacks and to start a race war. Sentence him to life without parole. Put him in a maximum security prison and make certain he is always "available" to the other prisoners and never allowed to live in solitary confinement. He'll live out his life in pain and misery and that painful life will be pretty short. He'll be found with a homemade shiv stuck in him and the owner of said shiv will never be discovered.

You're correct Ol' Man.....he wouldn't last a day if put in 'general population' and that would save us tax payers $83.55, which according to the state of Texas, is the average total cost of the three drugs administered during an execution.

Win...win.

This is a complex and emotional topic and everyone has a strong opinion on it. In Canada and in the UK and over Europe capital punishment has been abolished based on what the majority of the population wants and maybe the decision to do away with it has a lot to do with whether it works to deter murders.

To my mind this concept of revenge masquerading as justice and punishment seems very angry and full of hate. The kid is insane, obviously, and I find it interesting to read some of the ugly reactions. I don't think people really care about the cost of supporting the killer in jail, its just one more person among the millions already locked up. I think they want him to die and yes, I think they like that idea.

Agreed. Call it what it is. It scares me. When you look into the abyss, it looks back.

Yes the crime was ugly and violent. The kid is obviously insane. Was he given psychological testing I wonder.

But must the public's reactions and expressions of their wishes for a violent punishment also be so ugly.

If your dog bites someone badly and that person bleeds, does that mean that your dog must now be bitten hard and bleed? Is that what you mean by justice?

I think killing begets more killing, which begets more killing, around and around and around.

I would hope the sentence in this case is one which sends a message. Since November 8th, we have seen a nationwide increase in threats against people of color, immigrants, people of non-Christian religions, etc. There is a feeling out there that the President-elect condones violence against others based on race, religion, and sexual preference. If this person who walked into a church, knowing EXACTLY what he was doing, and shot to death black worshipers with the intent of starting a race war gets off with an insanity plea or something less than life without parole... it will only embolden those who have given in to hate.

Dogs are animals and do not think and reason like humans, dogs do not bite someone because they hate the color of their skin, their ethnicity or their religion. Hardly a fair or realistic comparison IMO.

SB, true, dogs don't know any better. Neither do some people. Ignorant people everywhere.

I understand some states down there don't do capital punishment, not sure which. I'm just glad that we don't have it here in Canada as my philosophy is one of non-killing and non-violence. But down there, I know things are different.

Cutting off someone's head and displaying it for all to see is pretty bad too. And when the news covers it over and over and over again, it gives the perpetrators what they are looking for. I find the whole idea of killing another living being for any reason barbaric, even someone who has it coming. I wish nothing had to die, so I could eat. It just isn't right. None of it is.

The problem in many jurisdictions, as here, is that Life doesn't mean life. They get out in 20 years or so and are back at it. This guy does not deserve to be out among the rest of us. He carefully planned a hate crime based on race, he contemplated it carefully, and then he killed all those people in cold blood as they were in a worship service. He does not deserve to ever see daylight again. Just my opinion.
