I just now got a verbal slap on the wrist

At the shopping centre, at the patisserie, choosing a product I hear - "No No No, don't take that one, that is an old one."
Attendant reaches below the counter and hands me another one.
"This is a fresh one"
Gusman admonished by staff 🥺 🤭
How often do you receive a verbal slap on the wrist?

I'd be thankful that someone cared enough to want me to take a fresher one. Certainly not a slap on the wrist, in my opinion. If it were, I wish I would get a lot more slaps. ;)

Hope you whacked her back 😂…..cheek “.”!!

It was just the way she delivered the message, rather loud and adamant. :)
Loudness considered, I agree with @Devi and @SeaBreeze ; it seems she was likely trying to be helpful, albiet in a *forceful* way, (which I do understand might make a customer a little uncomfortable).

At least you didn't eat something bad which might have made you ill.

As to why it was for sale in the first place... ugh, companies, profits, lack of customer care?

It had a large price taped to it so I assume it was for show only.
Though there were no fresh ones on display, they were under the counter.

Bretrick, you know I will put in my two francs worth here. Mate, are you sure you are Aussie? To take offence because you march up to the counter and maybe, grabbed the woman's display without waiting to be asked "Sir, can I help you?" Please get over it.
By the way patisserie is the French word for pastry shop.

So, @Bretrick, I gotta ask, if you assumed that, why were you trying to buy it in the first place? (I know you are only relating a fun story and don't want to turn it into anything else so know that this question is also in that spirit. 🌻
