I need an air purifier due to wildfire smoke

I am considering buying a Dyson air purifier/fan for my living room. $650 Can. Only thing, will this replace need for my portable AC which vents through small hole in patio door? I have checked out several purifiers suitable for lge rooms, but i am not savvy about such things. Any advice gratefully accepted.

I don't think "purifiers" cool the air, at least no more than a fan does. And a fan doesn't actually "cool" the air, just the person. Now, there may be combination purifiers/air conditioners, for all I know, but I bet they'd have to be installed someway.

There are roll-around portable air conditioners that are free-standing and draw the air from the inside of the room and then vent to the outside through a large tube stuck in a sort of window thingy (sorry, can't get more technical than "thingy".....) I've seen them and they're pretty bulky and pretty loud. Not to mention, I don't think they're cheap. But because they're drawing the air from INSIDE a house, it has to be cleaner than what is coming from outside. Is that what you mean by a "portable" AC?

Yep, that type AC is what I have in my condo. Works well, energy efficient. Got it on sale several yrs ago.

I don’t think it will replace the need for an air conditioner. Air conditioners also work as dehumidifiers, which take the humidity out of the air which I don’t believe an air purifier does.
Each unit does different things as far as I know. Dyson makes a good air purifier though. Together they should work great.

Awesome, thanks.
