I speak MY truth

I'm pretty much on the same page as Gruntlabor. All we can say is "At this time, it is believed that..." and whatever is believed to be the truth changes all the time.
Are any truths absolute and unchanging, regardless of what we believe?
This isn't a criticism of your post, just a question.
Below is an example of an absolute posted by another member:

Now, here's a truth: 2 + 2 = 4.

Name a truth that you believe can be questioned.
That's a good question. I didn't have a particular truth in mind, and it wouldn't matter because I did mean any truth should be allowed to be questioned. Questions aren't bad. 2+2=4 an absolute truth? In my everyday world it seems to be, can't answer in all circumstances though.

Somebody once said, “We are all entitled to our own opinions. We are not entitled to our own facts.” IMO, when I hear somebody talk about “their truth”, the warning siren and red lights go on, and I assume a defensive position.

A new term that is circulating is “lived experience”. The problem with it is that while we all have our own lived experience, some people’s experience is more equal than other people’s experience. Especially if a the powers-that-be agree with the former and disagree with that later.

The point is this (if there is one) is that we live in a world of questioning uncertainty. Is there anything that is commonly asserted as "truth" that is beyond question? Probably not. Likely, there are only gradations of truth - even in mathematics and physics. And I agree that any "truth" should be allowed to be questioned. But doing so can sometimes start wars - or just get someone killed.

You forgot the possibility of error.
And do you mean 2 ounces or 2 individual pieces.
We know nothing for sure --absolutely nothing. There is a margin of error in everything under and over the sun --in my opinion.
I'm trying to follow this, due to the amendments you made.

In pure mathematics, 2 + 2 = 4, and when stated exactly that way with no quantifiers it remains an absolute truth because it exists within a closed system of logic.

Once you add quantifiers, you move from that system of logic to the physical world, where several things become abstract.

Also, physical addition doesn't always mirror mathematical addition. If you add 2 piles of sand to 2 other piles of sand, you often just end up with 1 large pile of sand.

It looks like you have a 'stalker'...

@Matrix please be aware of new underage member @PheldiaButcher and inappropriate posts.

I have reported post #60 in this thread separately with the report button.

Here is a screenshot, to show what it says at this time, in the event she may edit it at some later time:

Really? Oh, please stop scaring me.

Oh, you think I'm Young? I'm 31 years old. Haha.
Not only is she underage, but she altered one of my posts when replying in her post 63 as evidenced by a simple review of the historical posts in this thread.

Reporting me isn't going to help you. If I was sitting on your face. I'm sure you wouldn't have commented that. Lol 🤪 🤪
