I survived!

Wife and I use to drive to Florida (on business) every February and I can remember you could tell you were getting close to Florida when every other car you passed had an Ontario licence plate. So maybe I'm part Canadian.

It's warming up and we're getting the big meltdown - roads and sidewalks clear, still patches of snow in yards and parks, but it's happening- hooray! 7 C today and I'm going out to play!

You Floridians are really spoiled LOL . . . we had 75 inches of snow last winter and approximately 40 inches this year; and 4th coldest February on record. Your winter temps are our Spring temps.

Having grown up in northwestern Pa., I know all about snow. When I moved to San Diego in 1969, I became familiar with a phenomenon called "going to the snow" which is especially popular with native Californians whose idea of snow is something pretty on a Christmas card or in a Bing Crosby movie. When the weather report says it's snowing in the mountains, they drive up there, make snowballs, construct what they think passes for a "snowman", eat snow, and slide around a bit in the delightful snow. Then they gather up some of their precious snow and bring it back to sunny San Diego hoping it won't melt before they can use it to prove to their friends that they Went To The Snow. The first time I heard of this, I thought they were pulling my leg. Now, of course, I'm used to it. Yes, this is all true.
