A new law aims to change that by requiring alcohol detection systems in cars to stop impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel. The new law applies to everyone, not just people with a history of drunk driving.

"The Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety (DADSS) program uses infrared sensors mounted on the dashboard and door that register a driver’s breath and touch sensors that capture blood alcohol levels in the skin and the results the company says only take a second."

I wonder how that will work with everyone having to use hand sanitizers??

This is a step in the right direction, IMO. Now, if some means can be found to kill the engine when the driver starts to play with their cell phone, thousands of lives could be saved every year. Drunks and cell phone addicts cause 10's of thousands of wrecks and deaths every year.

Hm-m-m! This might be aa good idea!
It's legal to sell liquor, buy liquor, drink liquor, and the wholesalers, bar owners or retailers as well as the Government make money from the sale of liquors, so It's always been confusing to me how they can arrest people who are imbibing and are not capable of knowing when to stop drinking because at a certain point, they arn't responsible for their actions.
This WILL keep them from driving while drinking.
Might be a good thing!

Great news for the manufacturers of DADSS devices.

IMO the hardcore drunk drivers will find a creative way to fool or disable the device.

For me and millions of others it means increased cost to purchase and maintain a vehicle.

A friend of mine who was an alcoholic, plumed the air from his spare tire into the court ordered device ........ years ago.

Beforethat, he used to pay 'sober' people to go blow into the device. He'd catch them when they were just arriving at the local bar. Offer them twenty bucks ...... most would do it.

You have a wonderful choice of friends.
Are you really that desperate?
