I think I'm going to change over to old man velcro tie shoes

The pair I'm wearing have plenty of use left in them, but to make life easier for everyone velcro is the way to go. I tried a pair once and the velcro wore out long before the shoes and they lay in the back of the closet until they got thrown out. I don't think an expensive pair is the way to go, I'll never use them for walking but I don't want to do the same thing and throw out a pair of perfectly good shoes. The cheapskate in me says just to get a pair from Wally World, but they're fugly the ones I've looked at online.

Does anyone know where I can get a decent pair for under fifty dollars?

I haven't tried Sketchers, but they advertise ones that you can just slip your foot in. Those look interesting to me. Do you think those would work? Amazon showed them in various styles from $50 & up.

Yup.

You start pushing 60 and all of a sudden velcro and spandex has a certain functional appeal.

I’ve got Skechers slip on’s and they are great. I got them at Costco from between $30 and $40. They are super convenient and ultra comfortable. They aren’t great hiker shoes though. More for pavement walking.

I had a pair of shoes that Velcro straps instead of shoelaces. They were okay, but didn't have thick soles and tread. They didn't last that long because of the rubber bottoms. I may have got them at Walmart, I can't remember. I know that you can get them on Amazon.

Well, I don't walk so I don't care what the soles are made of.

I have worn velcro for years. Easier for me. I also need a shoe with a solid heel, as I tend to bend my feet over (hard to describe) at the ankles. Helps me feel more secure. I can also use my reacher stick to grab the velcro and secure it

I spoke with a nurse who was very happy with her Skecher's slip ins.

Not promoting TEMU just replying to the post.

My wife buys stuff that she thinks I can use or might like. She bought 4 different colors of these ties. I can't tie shoe laces so the elastic ties that have that metal gadget that locks the laces together works great for me.

And 4 different colors of these shoes. I admit I thought how could these be any good because they are so cheap. But for me they fit better & feel better than the Nike sneakers I tossed out. I guess its a thing to have a variety of colors

I have a pair of Sketchers, and I love them. For me the shoes don't fit all that well.

I assume you are on Medicare. I get shoes, through my podiatrist, it doesn't cost me anything. Your allowed 1 pair of shoes per year. And a catalog with all kinds of shoes-even slip ons. You might have to be a diabetic, but I'm not sure.

No, I don't. But did you know you can buy rolls of velcro for cheap? I have some here and use it when needed - cut to length, and they have a very sticky backing.

In general terms, if there's something obvious that makes life easier, now's the time to take advantage.

I’ve got rolls of Velcro for when I make dog coats. My Velcro needs sewing.

My man never ties or unties his shoes.
He uses a long shoe horn he made out of wood. That way he doesn’t have to use the laces. Buy a shoe horn before you decide to get new runners.( written before seeing the above post )
