I Was Being Honest

My O/H bought 3 shirts similar to the one posted .. at Value Village. They are a good brand name (too lazy to go check). He wears them a lot through summer.

@Murrmurr .. good to see your lovely face again. The other one didn't look at all like you ;)

A guy on my other forum posted this shirt he bought for $3.00 at a Thrift Shop. I told him it was ugly and he paid $3.00 too much for it. Then he got mad at me...lol! You be the judge...was I right or wrong??

I wouldn't have used the word 'ugly', especially when describing it to the person who bought it.

Personally, I don't think I would have it even if it was free. I would be mainly concerned that it wouldn't go with or match my flowered patterned pink and yellow trousers. And besides, what kind of tie would I wear with it?:

While some, with no tastes, might question my choice of shirts ... I'd wear it

Have you been waiting for the right opportunity to post this photo? :)

Do you have any colourfull waistcoats too? All credit to you if you do.

That shirt was purchased in the UK actually. It isn't particularly well made but for £34, that isn't expected.
It's been about 15yrs, so I'm surprised they still have a website ... ShiteShirts
There are no waistcoats listed ... a fashion opportunity ??
I've gotten laughs, even compliments and made friends when wearing the shirt. It has been a positive experience, albeit occasional.

From the site, "About Us" ...
The idea was born from a ‘shite shirt night.’ We were a group of 10 all wearing awful shirts and people loved it. The nights became a regular occurrence with each person trying to outdo the others in the shirt vulgarity stakes and trying to be as individually ridiculous as possible. A lot of fun was had.

That’s when we started chucking about the idea of ShiteShirts. We wanted to create something that would embody the attitude that we had come to seek. An attitude of ‘I just want to enjoy’. We wanted everyone to have the fun, a bit of craziness and a lottery of individuality. We wanted a ridiculous revolution.

We began thinking. How better to ‘bring the fun’ than by bringing ShiteShirts to the world? They will bring groups together but everyone will remain individuals. That will be nice.

They may be mad, they may be crazy, but we hope ShiteShirts can make ‘fun’ a commodity. We hope they bring a bit of madness to your life.

I actually love that shirt in your picture, just had a look on their website, and I've seen some of those shirts on some TV presenters.. comedians et al..

An interesting business name, ShiteShirts. It made me laugh. 'Shite' being a British and Irish colloquial term for the same word but without the letter 'e'. Seems that they have made a s business out of something that was a bit of fun. I'd buy from them.

What a wimpy shirt! Call that loud & ugly, it doesn't come anywhere near. Now if you want to collect insults you need balls.

First up is just on the decent side of decency. Second puts the loud into proud. Third is simply burlesque. Fourth one depicts the golden age of travel and the last one is great for Halloween.

Okay...I call 'writer's embellishment' here. ^

Look, folks. I apologized for my comments on the other forum about the shirt. Everything is cool now. But that's what you get for identifying the elephant in the room.
You call yourself the elephant in the room? I have a better term for you and those people like you, but can’t print it here.

I’ve seen far worse shirts, and one man’s meat is another’s poison. I confess to have owned a few gaudy rayon/nylon floral print shirts in the 70’s when they were popular...just the thing to wear to the disco, or under my “leisure suit!” Nowadays, I no longer ride the tides of fashion.

i wouldn’t wear such a shirt unless going to Hawaii or attending a themed event...but I wouldn’t wear torn and cut jeans, either.

Life has taught me that honesty is a virtue, but one to be practiced in moderation…and if someone asks you if certain pants make their behind look big, run! 🙀

That I can empathise with too. My Aloha shirt collection are all hand made by my lovely lady, we go to festivals and vintage events, hence the reason why I like the look of the early part of the 20th century.

There are times when no matter how tactful you are, it's never enough. "Never seen you in jeans," someone once said to me. Now I could have said that denim is so working class or some other derogatory remark, what I actually said was, "there's no appeal in denim for me."

I got called a snob, to which I replied, with a smile, "Yep, I'm the same!" That just inflamed it further, but there again, I knew it would. I should have simply walked away but I felt that if you can hand it out then be prepared to take some back!

Sort of a Hawaiian type. I wore one a bit more colorful than that for my retirement party with my family. What a great day that was! My wife has not allowed me to wear it out in public with her ever since however. Probably should have included a hammer, a lawn mower, and a snow shovel in that pic!
