I will never understand some people

Walking a walk around the neighborhood, I saw neighbors around their backyard swimming pool looking like they were getting it ready for the season. They haven't even taken their Christmas decorationbs down yet! Go figure....
Kind of goes along with procrastination. Curious. How much did you have to pay to get the CV joint boots replaced & the leaking faucet?

Well at least their pool parties will be festive. 😂 A few years ago I read a sad story about a couple who was arrested in front of their 3 year old son due to a ridiculous law that they had to remove their Christmas decorations by a certain time. They hadn't complied so they were taken away. 🥵
Our subdivision has a date for removal of seasonal decorations. It starts with a fine. Perhaps this couple were flaunting the rule or threatening their council. There has to be a legal reason for an arrest. Sometimes the news leaves many facts out so they have a better story.

My gosh I'm very pleased we don't have any rules and regs here about what you can have on your home, or how long you can have a decoration up....or what colour your house should be ...
You obviously have good neighbours with good taste. You wouldn’t believe the condition and trash around some homes, even in nice neighbourhoods. You only need one to ruin it for everyone.

Deb, it's possible they are getting ready to sell the pool, and are just cleaning it up before they advertise it for sale.

I have no neighbors way out here in the country. I could do chores nekkid if I wanted and no one would ever know. No one to litter up my neighborhood either

The neighbors Christmas lights are not hurting anyone. If they like them and it make them happy, its no one else business.

I have a small fiberoptic Christmas tree, I'm using it as a night night. Why? Because its pretty and makes me happy and doesn't hurt anyone, and if anyone would have an issue with it, not my problem its theirs.

Probably an order to remove them under some type of Nuisance law. My guess, a civil fine only offense. My other guess is, they ignored the notice and maybe were summoned to appear on a Show cause order or a follow up summons, also ignored, then arrested!

We don't have those laws and regulations here, thankfully or we'd have the police here every day. Our next door neighbors, sweet couple leave their Christmas decor out all year. BUT, they change the wreath according to the season. They are a cute couple! Right now they have garland (Christmas with HUGE pinecones and colorful lights) and a wreath with Easter eggs. It isn't because they don't have the money; they are both driving new BMWs.

They don't bother me... life is too short. Let them be happy. They remind me of two little ants working to keep themselves happy and their home ~ 'decorated', year round.

Another neighbor keeps her Christmas tree lit all year long.

I can't find anything on the web about people being arrested for not taking down Christmas decorations. Fines, yes. Forced removal of offensive decorations, yes. I'm thinking you probably have this right, @Jules. They were probably arrested for another reason.

Christmas lights out of season make me smile, just the same as they do when they're in season. Messages for peace on earth and good will toward others are welcome in my life year-round.

Most Americans don't live where there are homeowner associations (HOA) along with their rules, regs, restrictions, boards and dues.

When DH & I started looking for a house some friends had just bought in a community with an HOA. It became a nightmare for them in short order. Based on their advice and experience we avoided HOA communities like the plague and have never regretted it.
