If it weren't enough with rising prices...

I've had a flip phone for years. Got a new Iris Flip Phone from Consumer Cellular. I'm the only one left in my family that has a flip phone. I spend so much time on my computer, I ask my self why should I pay a lot of money for a phone that has access to the internet?
..so if your computer goes down.. or if you're out, or away for a few days.. you can't access the internet... we would miss you..:(

Nowadays, a all in one computer (no tower, everything is in the monitor) is cheaper than most phones. Besides, I prefer a computer keyboard over a smart phone for posting on forums.

Ah, so not just cable. You have internet and phone also!
I was wondering how a "cable bill" could be so high!

Our bill is cable and internet only, and is half that price.

@Paladin1950 - I understand your thoughts. A flip phone would meet my needs except for the following: more people I know are texting instead of calling these days and it is hard to text back from a flip phone, my android phone is bigger, therefore easier to use, my android monthly plan costs no more than a flip phone plan, and my android includes GPS, which gives me driving directions when going somewhere new and unfamiliar. It's not a driving distraction, because I don't even have to look at the screen - just turn on MAPS (included free on my phone) - enter the address where I'm going, and get audible step-by-step instructions on how to get there as I drive.

Like you, I prefer my laptop for all activities other than calling, texting, and GPS, but if my home WIFI goes down (and it has) I can still access the internet via my laptop with my phone cellular internet simply by plugging the phone into the laptop and connecting to my phone "Hotspot." There are no additional charges to use that service - it's included in my monthly phone plan.

that's daylight Robbery..

People here who pay your prices have premium things included in their package..like the top sports channels .. netflix... Disney channels etc
My internet just went up to 80/month so I’m going to look for a new provider. My tv is YouTube tv and I split the 82/month cost with a friend. My phone is a prepaid plan for 15/month with T-Mobile which hasn’t went up in 4 years. It’s guaranteed not to. I have limited data.

My Internet (great service and high speed) is $55/mo. I don't have cable TV, and phone plan is TracFone because I don't use it... that's $100 for a year's plan plus lots of text and 400 minutes which I never use up totally. So that would be $9 a month. Any bundling I'd try to check into would be wasteful because it wouldn't be used. :)

Anyone who pays for cable to watch over 7 minutes of commercials all day long needs to have their heads examined. You are mostly one sick "dud."
