That's nonsense as usual. The vaccine was to make infection less severe and not cause death and hospitalization. There was never a promise that it would make it go away. The virus keeps changing which explains the need for the boosters. Do flu shots make the flu go away? No, but those who get the flu are less sickly and less likely to die from complications like pneumonia.
If they bring back covid restrictions will you comply this time around?

Much respect. You're very kind to visit your old friend in the nursing home and be considerate of all there who may be weak and immune compromised and possibly die from an infection. The world is a better place due to people like you, thanks.

If there is another "flareup" of Covid, or Any diseases, we'll follow the recommendations, and avoid crowds, etc. We'd rather put up with some ":inconvenience" rather than getting ill.

Is that not simply speculation? We have no way to know if the "dead" numbers would be a lot higher if so many hadn't worn masks! I don't know what's coming down the pike, but I *do* know that I'm not going to be a 65 year old brat stomping my feet like a 5 year old who's whining about not wanting to wear a winter hat. SMH There is NO way to know what "may have been" without the mask wearing... the numbers may be doubled!

Absolutely NOT! I never wore a mask the 1st time around unless I absolutely was forced to by folks that were scared to death by watching too much media and believing all the doom sayers out there. However, I did get the original 2 shots and the 3 boosters. So, I never got sick even though the media tried to tell us that we all are going to get sick and millions are going to die! There are way too many people on this planet anyways! Look at what they have brought (global warming and nonstop pollution) us!

I never minded wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer and social distancing.
I liked social distancing because I do not like strangers so close I can feel them breathing
on me.

We personally knew 4 people who were of the this & that conspiracy believers that died from Covid. Perhaps they would still be alive today had they adhered to common sense.The rebels did not stop the deadly virus from spreading and causing so many deaths just in this country. Better to follow the reasonable, straight thinking adults than the conspiracy believing fearful crowd.
No. It's a fact the "vaccine" did not work like a traditional vaccine because it isn't one. It's experimental gene therapy. A traditional vaccine would protect the inoccoluated from the disease for which it had been given. Masks don't work because it says so right on the package.
I had a family member die from Covid at the very beginning before he could access a vaccination. He was not a conspiracy nutter at all, he would have gotten it as soon as possible, but he was infected early. RIP.
It's sad to see anyone lose their life due to this deadly virus, even the rebel non-believers.

I still have small bottles of hand sanitizer in my vehicles and disposable masks there too, if needed. If somebody is sick, sneezing, coughing up phlegm, etc. I feel much better if they are using a mask. I can't control what they do, but I can protect myself. I have not worn a mask for quite a while now, but will again if/when necessary.
I haven't been sick with even a cold in many, many years. I seem to be healthier in that respect than I was when I was younger.
Like you, I also don't want to be sick, don't want to be hospitalized and don't want to die from a deadly worldwide virus if I can take a simple step to avoid it. So many ways to die in our old age, it would be foolish to have this be one of them IMO.

They would need that disclaimer. Of course. We need to educate ourselves and not be gullible. As this fact check states, of course it won't totally prevent infection if a lot is breathed in.... but it's a lot better than not wearing it. The article also wonders if someone would not wear a lap belt in a car just because it doesn't have a shoulder harness as well. Knowledge is power.

Speaking of 5 yr. olds how far do those of you who support mandated masking feel about forcing real 5 yr. olds to wear them? Or do you prefer to close the schools again? I think it is generally accepted by now that the kids were hurt the most by the disruption to education last time.
It is generally accepted that kids play a big role in spreading the cold virus. While they don't usually get extremely sick from Covid they can spread it so if they are not masked or kept home how much good will it really do to mask adults?
Some of you seem very eager to have mask mandates in place. You can still mask without a mandate. If the masks are effective they will protect you, mandated or not. Put them on now and get a jump on the mandate.

Would I comply? Yes. Why? Because I can't possibly know every nuance and detail. So I must trust others to do so. If I save one person from Covid, or angst at the fear of Covid, it's worth it. It's something we do not because we get anything, but because we can. It's a big what if? If I knew I'd passed on Covid to someone who died, I'd hate myself. Sometimes, the greater good means more than individual freedom.

My granddaughter was born in early 2015, so was 5-6 during the mask mandate. Wearing a mask was less of an annoyance to her than wearing shoes or a jacket. Young children pick up drama from the adults around them. If adults are matter-of-fact about wearing masks and tell the kids to put on a mask, they do it. If the parents whine, so will their children.
To answer the original question, I would absolutely wear a mask again if the science continues to move in that direction. I'm carefully watching the stats on this new variant and am considering breaking out the K95s. Wearing a mask was no big deal to me.
My father was a scientist who taught his children to follow the science and credible sources. When additional evidence leads in a new direction, good scientists move from their original hypotheses and conclusions to where that additional evidence takes them.
It's so easy to Monday morning quarterback what epidemiologists, doctors and scientists recommended during the early fog of Covid when people were dropping like flies.
When we know better we do better. They know better after studying this for 3-1/2 years and will do better if/when a dangerous new variant evolves.

I haven't read all posts, so only clarifying my own response since it was quoted... "eager to mandate" and stating that we'd comply if there *is* a mandate are different issues. I was never "for" mandates... but my statement of not toddler-stomping my feet in defiance if there *is* one is addressing that... not stating I'm eager for mandates. I detest being told I have to do something!

It is not comforting to me to know that the government wants to take my right to make my own decisions away and make them for me. Freedom to decide vs big daddy government making my decisions for me is at the root of these disagreements but you are correct that it is fruitless arguing about it.
It's basically the same liberal/conservative argument that rages in most things, more government or less government, big daddy to tell people what to do or government telling the people what it knows and they will make their own decisions.
If you don't comply then the nicest thing said about you might be that you are like a 5 yr. old stomping your feet. I disagree. I see it as making my choice while you are making yours. No insults needed.
Last time the hammer was brought down on businesses, schools, churches, etc. and a lot of them didn't recover. I don't want to see that again. There are literally dozens of articles out there about the losses in the education of children that they will not make up, but it's blown off like it never happened. Just comply.
