If You Could Easily Afford Servants Would You Hire Any?

I wouldn't like people cleaning my home on a regular basis. Maybe someone to wash my rugs and do the windows and hang my curtains.
I would rather have a handyman who would do the yard work so I could enjoy my garden more.
Touch up painting here and there. Filling the holes in the walls because I can't make up my mind where the picture should go.
Moving furniture around to see where it looks good. I can keep someone busy doing that for hours.
Repainting rooms which is a passion of mine.

That’s why I still have a husband 🤣. Nope, I liked that picture better over there. Nope, move the sofa down a little more. Nope, it needs a second coat of pain. Nope, you have to move that grape vine. Nope, I am not done yet. I will let you know when I am done. 🤣

@Aneeda72 my hubby is a master at hiding when I get in my moving mode. I think he actually picks out clothes that will make him blend in with the recliner. He also can become quite deaf when I call him but he regains his hearing when I tell him its time for dinner. Amazing!
Yup, my husband does the ā€œdeafā€ thing, drives me crazy; and he can hide, but he’s too fat to run šŸ˜‚

We've had the same cleaner for 15 years, when she retired, her daughter took on the job, of five hours cleaning each week. They both know exactly how I want things done. We also have a gardener and pool guy. With both of us following careers, it suits us, besides I hate housework :(

Yes! It would free me up to do my art, make friends, exercise outdoors at my own pace (my dogs constantly sniff the ground) or go out and save the world...why not?? They need a paying job and I could use the help...a win win

Like Bonnie, I'd want a pool guy...and a cabana boy to serve my SF friends salads and smoothies for lunch poolsidešŸ¹šŸ¹ā›±ļøšŸ‘™šŸ©±šŸŒ“
But no dinner chef...I prefer my own cooking. Yard maintenance, flower gardener, vegetable gardener...Yes!

I would like an all-purpose helper for a few hours every now and then to assist/motivate me to do some cleaning, errands, and a few little projects.

I know what you mean! I have several things that I need to do, but my arthritis makes it impossible for me. For instance, I'd like to clean out my bottom cabinets in the kitchen and get rid of stuff I don't use anymore, but I can't get down there to do that anymore.

When we lived in Northern Virginia and both worked very long hours, we had a cleaning service. Here in South Carolina we have used one following my wife's hip replacement and my rotator cuff surgery. It was worth it both times. We continued the cleaning service down here for quite awhile, but they eventually got rather sloppy and when COVID came along we stopped it. They had also started to become very unreliable about even showing up as scheduled.

We started yard service when I turned 70, and with our summer heat it has been worth it. Not having to maintain and periodically replace mowers and weed eaters is a blessing all of its own.

As to having anyone cook for us, the answer is no. My wife is a great cook and loves her kitchen. Getting her to go out for a meal usually involves overcoming some resistance.

So we will certainly continue having yard service and after the virus gets under control, we may return to having a cleaning service every two weeks, .... But with a different company.

No never ...I don’t want people nosing about in my house , Thankyou very much !!

I have a car cleaner and a gardener ....

I grew up with that as a child, never gave it much thought, and as an adult still did. Living on a huge estate and parents running an orphanage overseas. It was necessary.

As a senior miss it a bit. That does not mean I'm ok with it always. Like in extended stay hate when they bug you to clean rooms.

No servants for me thank you, no matter how well-to-do I was.

I love my privacy and freedom too much for that, plus I'm too fussy. No one would be able to get things done to my liking, besides, getting off ones duff is a good thing, keeps one healthy.

On the same note, I would (if I could) have a gardener, if not fulltime, part-time.

Cleaning people are the most honest people until the day they don't show up. They are quiet good at mentally scout you and your valuables.
