Great idea! For me it would be go back from my grandfather on my dad's side who I never met. I later learned that my great grandfather on my dad's side was alive until I was 7 1/2 but I never heard about him and we never visited him.

The Queen of England, Ginger Rogers, and Ruth McCue Bell Graham. I want to be in a castle and have lunch, I want to know what like to dance with Fred Astaire, and then I would give anything to have lunch with Billy Graham's lovely wife!
 
I was just giving thought to past Hollywood actors/actresses (stars).

- Grandpa (The Munsters)... Al Lewis
- Gilligan (Gilligan's Island)... Bob Denver
- Agent Maxwell Smart (Get Smart)... Don Adams
 
Theodore Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and T.S. Eliot for historical figures.

Would also love to meet Cary Grant, Cole Porter, Tom Petty, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Edmund Wilson, Jack Kerouac, Dwight Eisenhower, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, MLK, Edith Wharton and many others.

If you go too far back in time, I'm not sure communications would be so good. But it would be great to meet Caesar Augustus, Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln and other towering historical figures. Dinner conversation might be tough however.

I'm told that at a municipal golf course in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx there are photos in the clubhouse of "the boys" playing golf.
 
That question; "What's for dinner" is an apt question. If I'm serving Prime Rib, I can't invite Guru Dev or Pattanjali as they are vegetarians.
Also, One would have to invite those who speak English.

THEN they would speak English just for you!

I made two lists in my response, one for if anyone invited would automatically be able to speak English along with being brought back from the dead. The second had those who could speak English.
