Even if I was able to run for President of the United States, I don't think I'd want the job. It seems that the President walks into a situation in which he had no control over, and is expected to work miracles in turning things around, and making everyone happy in the process.

Also, the more I learn, I see that there are powerful people behind the scenes, like large banks and corporations that have a lot to do with decisions made in our government. The President himself doesn't have as much power as one would think, and that also must be very frustrating for the person involved. I wouldn't like to have some changes in mind when I entered that position, only to find that my hands are tied by the real powers that be who run the government, etc.

Vote in the poll and tell us if you'd like to be President of the United States or not, and share your reasons if you like.

great way to lose friends and gain enemy's. they all have a plan to change the world. problem is its not listening

The President has as much power as the Constitution allows. His main power is the right of veto. Congress has more power to enact legislation but looking on from the outside, it seems that most congressmen from both parties are only interested in the game of politics and have forgotten their duty to serve the nation and its people working for the common good. The same disease has infected our parliament too.

Again, looking from the outside, the physical toll on successive presidents is very apparent. The job is very demanding and they age before our eyes.

I wonder how they cope with undeserved nastiness. I saw on a website a couple of days ago a claim that Mrs Obama is a trannie and Obama is a homosexual. Imagine trying to shield your children from that kind of hurtful rubbish.

Now you know better then that.I saw it too on the National Enquirer at the check out.

I think we're pretty much agreed that would be a pretty impossible job at this point. I love Bernie and his message, but still don't believe anyone can clean up like fifty years of screwed up administrations.
