If you go down to the woods today, you're sure to?

Well the woods are right behind my house so I am in the woods often...

I would be watching where I walked in the woods because there is not much sunlight coming down because of all the trees. I would be listening to my feet stepping on leaves or rocks or to the sound of creatures scampering about. I would also be on the look out for any flash of orange which means that hunters might be in the area, hunting for game (although I don't think it is that season yet!).

Edited: We used to live on a mountain with 11 acres of woods, and I'm speaking from experience, lol.

Be careful of the black bear problems we've been having.... and I don't mean a Teddy Bear's picnic.
Some years ago, some close friends of mine returned from their office to their nearby home. The house is two-story, reasonably modern, built in the mid 1980s. They must not have fully shut their front door, and they found it quite ajar. They walked in and found there was a black bear that, not making it into the kitchen & the food, had however gone into the small laundry room, found a cupboard... and had made a mess and was ingesting powdered laundry detergent!! One of my friends went round to the back door, advanced through the dining room, in the direction of the laundry room, making noise & projecting fierce vibes. The startled bear got frightened and scrammed out through the open front door! They closed & locked their doors.

These friends are mild, reserved types who run a small publishing business. Circumstances simply compelled them to get a grip.

So far as they knew, they never spotted that particular bear again, at least not near their house.

Gary, I guess our British Columbia bears are usually a little more reserved than those in Oregon. (Or our doors are more stoutly built.)
I would well imagine yer bears are bigger
Maybe they're more well fed?

Our blackies go around 400 to 500 lbs or so
This one (a yearling) dressed out at just under 400 lbs

My cabin doors are quite stout

But
They're inside opening due to snow load

Makes it a bit easier for Mr Bear

But haven't had to stand the test

However, my buds in SE Alaska have had some adverse experiences
