If you had to relocate to another country, where would you go?

Hard to say, I've been to many countries, some I really liked. The UK, Mexico, Italy, Canada, Ecuador, France, Switzerland, Argentina, the BVI, that come to mind. And some I didn't, will not list those. But nothing really felt like home, but home. Never been to Australia or New Zealand, they might be good choices, not sure. It would be tropical for sure.

Perhaps Canada. The climate would be quite an adjustment vs. Texas but I could adjust. The culture, etc. would seem more like the States I would think. Not interested in Mexico or any South American countries given the ups and downs of political systems and safety concerns. I would consider several countries in Europe (France, Germany, Norway) but just thinking about it I doubt the cost of living would be much less than in the USA.

I've stayed for extended periods in Venezuela, Thailand, and southern England, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. But that was a long time ago. England was the shortest and most recent trip, and that was around 10 years ago. The other 2 places were close to 30 and 25 years ago, respectively. All those places have changed a lot since I was there, and not for the better, imo.

If I had to relocate, I'd just request a place with the least amount of civil unrest and military conflict.

To stay in another country for a long period of time? I'd choose Germany or perhaps Denmark.
I enjoy visiting England, but all of the upheaval, Brexit, strikes all over constantly, cost of electric, there isn't much to like right now.
Canada might be another option for me. The people there are very friendly.

I've been to a few western provinces and to Victoria Island, and people weren't so friendly. Not to me, anyway. Not after I said I was American. This was in the late 70s, so maybe the lack of friendly had to do with Vietnam, idk. Or maybe they thought I'd steal all their women. Just kidding. I think even the women don't like Americans....or didn't, at that time.

I have no idea why I got the cold shoulder in Canada. I was polite and minded my table manners, didn't carry a weapon, so... 😕.

Hmmm, sounds like politics back then @Murrmurr
Come on over, anytime .. we're friendly!

Assuming money is no object, my relocation country of choice would definitely be France. I've been to Paris, which is the most beautiful and interesting city on earth (IMO), plus there's the high-speed rail system that I could use to travel to other beautiful and interesting places in Europe. I don't think I'd ever get tired of traveling around Europe — that is, if money was no object and I could stay at the finest hotels.

Yeah, it was very unexpected. And French-speaking Canadians were the most unfriendly toward me. It really puzzled me.

But we're all good now, eh? ☺️
Until the early 2000's French speaking people, primarily in the Province of Quebec, were often openly hostile toward English speaking people - particularly English speaking Canadians even more so than Americans. That has now changed since they figured out the volume of tourist $$ they were turning away with that attitude.

All that BS has long since disappeared. You'd be welcomed with open arms anywhere in Canada now (just be sure to bring your wallet :sneaky:)
