If you were tired of living alone, which would you prefer, a husband/wife, or a roommate?

I'd go for the wife, but with reservations. I had more than my share of romances in my younger years and up to age 70. Haven't been with a woman in 9 years, mostly by design. I'm at an age where I could become a health burden on her, though I doubt as it good as I feel, or I could die on her and leave her with a grieving, broken heart. However, when it's good, you cannot beat the loving companionship of a wife and, ideally, a meeting of the minds and hearts. It's like the old saying, "Nice work if you can get it."

the whole topic is interesting. I don't know. Sex is intimate but does it establish a relationship????
On the other hand does intimacies establish a relationship??????
I would say no. Relationships are based on mutual understanding and agreement on common issues. Sex aside, two people discuss their common grounds and decide to proceed or not. If they do then they proceed, otherwise they part.
The sexual aspect becomes something of a grounding point, yet is not something that overrides what brings two people together..

My Dad said "You don't have to marry her." Before I married my second wife. It shocked me a bit. He was pretty conservative, yet he had a feel that she wasn't "right" for me. It only lasted 2 years. Then when I quit looking for a partner and was enjoying my freedom round 36, I met Misa.
We didn't marry, but we both are very glad we stuck with each other even when we were going through rough times. What do you call a person like her. Significant other?

Yes, l see it as "Significant Other". Most people understand what that means. It's good.

Either a wife, GF, or lady Friend w/Benefits.
One older than me... I feel like older women have more heart, just a personal thing I guess.
I've always felt that way

I am open to a male or female roommate. Good experiences in the past. Another Male with a FWB atmosphere would work as long as we were compatible. Never had bad issues with female roomies. I'm looking...

I think I'd like a room mate. Since I'm a female I'd need a female room mate. Someone who is like-minded.
But I'm okay with just my dog. But it'd be nice to have a friend.

An interesting question. I doubt I would want a "husband/wife", or a husband or a wife, and certainly wouldn't want one of each at the same time. Double trouble!

A roommate -- possibly. But only if that 'roommate' had their own room, and preferably had their own several rooms, independent of mine.
