If you were to move to another country, which one would it be, and why?

Have you ever thought about moving to another country? Forget all practical reasons not to move and tell us what places you fantasize about and why.
 

Switzerland. It's been 30 years since I visited Switzerland, but I totally loved every minute of it. Montreux! St Moritz!
 
New Zealand for me.
Love the people, love the land and must live under southern stars.
Not at all keen on earthquakes though.
 

I did once consider New Zealand but nothing came of it. I thought the land was pretty spectacular and since many of the people have Scottish connections, I thought it may be easy to fit in. Scandinavian countries also appeal to me. Simply because I think that they have a decent lifestyle and values.
 
I've never been to the antipodes, but I can understand the attraction. I've always lived near the sea and hills, so I couldn't manage in a landlocked or flat country. In the past I've considered both the Nordic countries and N.Germany , but never got round to doing anything about it.
I'm getting a bit long in the tooth now to learn a new language well enough to get by, but at least we're visiting more places, so I'll never say "never".
 
I spent quite a bit of time in the orient and liked it so I'd opt for countries like......Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia and possibly Thailand.

Mama and I have discussed the possibility of moving to the orient after she retires in about eighteen months and really the two main considerations holding us back are the lack of trusted, quality and readily accessible medical & dental care in these countries plus the fact that I'm sure that we'd lose our U.S. based Medicare & BCBS health benefits living overseas.
 
If it wasn't for wanting to be near the sea, I'd say the Saar valley in Germany - especially small towns like Saarburg.
Beautiful countryside, good housing, good shopping, good food and drink, good road and rail links and easy air travel via Luxembourg etc...
On the negative side, since my pensions and savings are in the UK, I'm at the mercy of currency exchange rates. A few years ago it would have been OK, but not so good now.
 
OK, forgetting all practical reasons, Norway. I've been fascinated by Norway all my life. It's beautiful and seems to be relatively violence free. For practical reasons, it's too dam cold!
 
I wouldn't relocate.

I've spent varying periods of time in a number of countries and while some are very nice to live temporarily I would not like to live there on a permanent basis.
 
My ancestors were Irish so I'd probably give Ireland a go. Would take a lot to get me to leave Australia permanently. Despite all its faults I love the lifestyle we have plus the healthcare....oh and Rugby League.....and the food.
 
Switzerland. Beautiful country, and a stable society. I traveled around Europe, many years ago, and had some really nice experiences there, but Switzerland stands out in my mind. No place is perfect, but on balance, the U.S. is still a great place to live...if one can avoid the lunacy that pervades some parts of our society. Canada is great, in the Summer, but the Winters are more severe than I would like. If I were filthy rich, I would have a Summer home in Kenora, Ontario...on the north shores of the Lake of the Woods, and a Winter home in Phoenix, AZ, or Las Vegas, NV.
 
New Zealand or Australia- I owned a home and have lived in New Zealand and visited Oz a number of times.
