I'm Awake...

When I was sixteen and daft as a brush, I stayed awake all night talking to someone I met at a party, felt like death the next day :zombierolleye:

Approx. 48-54 hours.

We did that type of thing fairly often with holiday weekend computer conversions/upgrades during my working years.

It's good to know the depth of the well.

What is the longest you have ever remained awake for?

In my early working years, there’d be times I’d stay up for days.
Two and three jobs, two and three shifts.

Seems like three days was pretty much tops.

The second day, after getting the sleepies, I’d get all peppy, in spurts.
Coffee, strong coffee, helped.

The third day was always pretty much a rumdum blur, stumbling around, wondering what day it was.

After that, finding a proper place to crash, and getting there, was the challenge.

Probably about 48 hours. When I was in my 20's I worked the night shift. A few of my girlfriends were going to NYC to see a show and have dinner. I left work, came home and freshened up and joined them. By late afternoon I was dragging, sick to my stomach and I don't even remember what show we saw. I never did that again.

Insomnia is a problem the last few years, about 48 hours then the zombie feeling hits.
Hubby and I owned a 2-family house in the 80s,I stayed up 24 hours repainting before a new tenant moved in,that was tough,my kids were toddlers but we all survived.

The flip side: I had a terrible poison ivy reaction (occupational hazard). I needed a huge shot of anti-histamine. The doc asked me if I had a long way to drive home. I told him I lived ten minutes away. On the way home, I slowwwwwwed down. Hit the sack at noon, awoke 2 PM, the next day. Cats and dog were pretty angry at me. I felt great, though, and the rash was completely gone

I hardly ever sleep. If I get an entire hour of sleep before waking up I consider that a win. I believe my problem comes from the fact that I am always thinking of what is going to happen. I also think some of my medicines contribute to me not being able to sleep long. I even have a hard time trying to take a nap during the day. I can't remember sleeping more than an hour straight without waking up and taking forever to fall back asleep.
