I'm Proud Of all You Women!

Oh, puleeze. The most ignorant comments I've seen today.
These comments are always stupid man talk. Until your standing with a woman that cares about her man, and a flaunting woman walks up and says hi with a big smile. Then it's your woman wife that turns and says, she is a slut, look how she is dressed. Make no mistake, if it's not an invitation to for comment or to touch, but it's not always men that make the remarks about dress.

By the way, I have no desire to really go past hello, or thank you with women I meet. The world is too hateful nowadays. And the new definition of tolerance is, not being nice to someone with different beliefs or lifestyle. No, it's embrace, you must embrace it. I don't agree with everyone on this site, but I understand we all come from different backgrounds and that shapes us. I'm tolerant and respectful of others I disagree with. But I see so much venom and hate today from people preaching tolerance. I never tolerated sexual harassment, no matter how a person dressed or acted.

The point Bob makes can have merit. Hollywood women complaining about harassment, but look how they are dressed on the carpet. That doesn't give the men of Hollywood the right to comment or touch, but the way you dress is sending a message.

Are you aware that Harvey Weinstein's wife, Georgina Chapman, owns the Marchesa brand? The women for whom he campaigned to win Oscars were asked to wear her fashions.

Wow, there must be some really hunky, good looking guys here where women come up to you wearing something down to here and up to there to steal you away from your wives. :D I honestly haven't worked anywhere or been actually anywhere where women actually dress like that. I have seen some leggy teenage girls wear tiny shorts sometimes, but that's about it. Maybe some personal examples might be interesting.

I'm out. This forum was fun, but yea I lied about having a woman walk up and wife making a comment. Right? I'm a man, what can I say, I'm stupid, a liar, harasser. We're all bad. We have no right to discuss. Go ahead, call me stupid, ignorant all the names you have. You can't even try to discuss things anymore without the other side just name calling, and getting sarcastic. Screw forums. Screw discussing something.

Well---excuuuuse me for having an opinion. Sure, man bashing is not okay, but neither is woman bashing.

Excellent post; I totally agree.

Personal comments and touching should always be avoided.

On the other hand there is the very flaunting way many women are dressed these days. Looking for admiration or to attract wolf whistles? Or just hoping for getting into a dress situation and getting millions from their employers for the comments they received.

There really are two sides to all these stories.

I don't think it has anything to do with the way you dress. I think it's in the mind of who ever is looking, they see what they want to see. I have been accused of tantalizing, flirting, whatever, all the while dressed in a very appropriate business suit. Don't even start with well..you were sending off signals. Furthest thing from my mind. If someone is looking for it, they can turn anything into what they want to see. I do agree that there is always two sides to a story. Just sayin'.....

This is what I'm talking about, not work suits, nor room for interpretation. I'm talking about the obvious stuff. I understand false accusations. Even stressed like this is no excuse for a man, hear me? No excuse? Got it. But if some guy makes a comment, don't act like the poor virgin Mary.

I have attended debutante balls for students of the catholic school where I was the Deputy Principal. I was seated at the main table with invited guests including catholic priests and occasionally the bishop. Some girls would come to the table to talk to the priests and lean over, demonstrating ample cleavage as they did so. My puritan Methodist upbringing would kick in and I would experience mild outrage at this behaviour. The priests behaved impeccably, with more self control than I thought was possible in the circumstances.

The other times I had this reaction was the end of year farewell dinner where the girls would attend a school mass with parents and family present, then come back to the school for a girls only dinner. The outfits that some of them wore would have been more appropriate for a singles bar in the seedy heart of Sydney. There girls were just 16-17 years old but the look of the night for some was sexy sleaze. Having a young daughter myself I used to be horrified that their mothers would actually purchase these outfits for their teens.

However, no matter how they are dressed, it does not mean that they are adults. They are still naïve and need to be protected from predators, even of their parents are foolish.

That said, evidence is clear, predators are not triggered by sexy clothing. They look for any vulnerable victim and they take advantage where they can and get away with it because the victim is, or at least until lately, was unlikely to be believed. I remember hearing a young woman tell a hairdresser about a narrow escape that she had had where an attempt was made by a group of young men to snatch her from a bus stop. She was heading home from work in broad daylight. They bundled her into a car and drove off. She resisted with vigour and was punched in the face. The glasses that she was wearing caused a cut which bled profusely down her face. Apparently this deterred the men and she was pushed out of the car and they sped off, leaving her bleeding by the side of the road. I remember this story because I looked at her and she was very demurely dressed. She reminded me of the stereotypical librarian.
