I'm so antsy about the national fiasco,Covid19 and the fires. How about you?

Normally during the day I write my novel and paint. But with all that's going on, I'm getting more and more antsy. It got worse once the fire threat increased in this area. I've been on here today trying to decrease it. I've done all the things I usually do to put it to rest. It's like one of the guys said on the national news last night, the fires make it seem like the end of the world. If that is true, then so be it, but.... As of last night 4 million acres had burned in 12 states. It doesn't stop like a hurricane or an earthquake. This is ongoing.

Fire is so primal. Comfortingly so when it's in its place and very disturbing when it's not. We have only ever had one bad year given our wet climate for wildfires, and it was nothing like what the West deals with ...but I remember the haze and the whiff of smoke that's always in the air and how unnerving it was.

Sending a huge hug your way!

Thanks. Because of climate change it will be this way every year now. We used to get lots of rain. We've been in a deficit for at least 20 years. The changes are worldwide and will be getting worse. No one is exempt. Some will continue to get horrible hurricanes and floods. People drug their feet so long that now in many ways it's too late.

the haarp program has changed the jet stream...
We've damaged the environment horribly. We are at fault. Us. It is not Haarp.
I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time today. I hope you find a way to get past your anxiety and get back into a state that you're more comfortable with.
Thank you for your kindness. I will, I always do. But that does not change the reality of what is. On a national scale the state of this country is the worst it's ever been.

I certainly can understand being very nervous about the fires, I have a fear of them ever since a place I lived in burned down. I don't know what to tell you other than distracting yourself as you are doing. It is a very bad situation. I have family out there but found out they are doing fine.

I find comfort in this;

Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

And this one;

Romans 8:38-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

But this one gives me peace;

Psalm 116:1-2
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.

That one's me

I've lived a pretty rugged life
My choice
But
When I prayed...for mercy......forgiveness.....HE heard me
That's where my real cares are now

All I want
All I need

Sorry
Not preaching
Just sharing with the OP
Where my comfort lies

Thanks for caring.That's what I do. Sometimes when we stop and look at it straight on there is no distracting from the reality.

Gary O. I'm glad your faith comforts you. I was raised with that. I don't want to debate it with you or anyone, but to me it is not reality.

I know, reality can really stink. I sometimes get myself very wound up from worrying but have been playing relaxing bird sounds and nature sounds a lot lately and it helps me and my bird. Music has been a good retreat for me, too. Also taking the dog for walks helps.

Well, my mother called, and said that with peace agreements coming with Israel and others, it is the predicted “end of times“ according to the Bible. She is very excited that she won’t have to die but will be lifted straight up to heaven. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am excited also. We have a long time to go guys. Mother, at 95, is frequently out of touch with reality. Sorry about your anxiety, @Phoenix, but you have “miles to go before you sleep”

Agree here.

Climate change is real. The effects are devastating and lethal. I'm not worrying about dying. That's not the issue. I faced that for 37 years when I knew my brother could send someone to murder me. That was literally true. Today I feel better, even though nothing has changed. I thank everyone for their support here. It does help. Plus when something gets me down, I do things to mellow myself out.

Thanks. Because of climate change it will be this way every year now. We used to get lots of rain. We've been in a deficit for at least 20 years. ...

Complicating the issue is that parts of the West experienced a huge human population increase in one of the wettest periods of the area in the past thousand years. Sedimentary and plant growth analysis of parts of the western US shows that "The period 1937–86 has been the third-wettest half-century interval of the past 1,000 and more years." Natural climate change, manmade climate change, increasing numbers of people impacted by the neccesary-to-the-ecosystem burning of forest floors ...it all adds up to a mess that isn't going to get better unless we have a significant population reset. And I'm getting the feeling that the Great Spirit, Mother Nature, Gaia ....whatever she's called.... is about ready to do just that.
