Immigrants are flooding into the U.S.

Between the crime and political corruption that exists in many of the South and Central American nations, it's no wonder that so many of their people are flooding our border. Unfortunately, most of them have little in the way of skills that will allow them to "blend" into our society. Instead, most of them will have to rely on government "welfare", and cause even more financial problems for our nation.

Have posted on related threads before, the root of the problem is not the diversionary blabber coming out of politicians and their complicit media but rather Wall Street, agriculture corps, wealth growth, and those with a list of those with political agendas that understand they cannot be honest with the American public about immigration. A solution only begins when the attraction of obtaining employment and benefits ends.

This includes stopping visa overstays, full employment verification as American citizens, sane border policy, and national IDs. Corporations hate any of this, especially those with global markets.

To me it is a matter of perception. People see the news and see hundreds of men, women and children amassed at the border and feel invaded, overwhelmed, frightened and angry. We must pay attention to those Americans and their worries and not disregard them.
I seriously doubt anyone would object to hundreds. But hundreds of thousands monthly from a variety of countries are a real concern.

This government chart shows the monthly illegal entry of migrants.

the one chart shows advance counting for 2023 of 230678 so far.

This article is self explanatory

Border Patrol reports 2.4 million migrant arrests at southwest border this year, the most ever
The historic pace of migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border has fueled Republicans’ focus on the crisis, but despite the efforts of Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, encounters in Texas have increased.

It's not like people aren't able to come to America legally it's a process established for the good of both those wanting to come to America & America.

There is this to think about.

Washington — Nearly a million immigrant adults were naturalized as American citizens in fiscal year 2022, the third-highest annual tally recorded in U.S. history, according to a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) report published on Wednesday.

In the 12-month period that ended Sept. 30, 967,400 adults swore the oath of allegiance at naturalization ceremonies across the country, the USCIS figures show. When taking into account cases of children who derived citizenship from their U.S.-citizen parents and other naturalization cases, a total of 1,023,200 immigrants became U.S. citizens in fiscal year 2022.

The number of adult immigrants who became U.S. citizens was only greater in 1996 and 2008, when 1,040,991 and 1,046,539 adults were naturalized, respectively, historical government statistics show.

Most naturalized citizens gain citizenship after living in the U.S. as permanent residents for three or five years, depending how they secured legal residency. Those who serve in the military can qualify for a special, fast-track naturalization process. Applicants are also generally required to prove they can read, write and speak English, and understand U.S. history and the system of government.

I don't know how true that is. Every construction site, roofing crew, kitchen, landscaping crew, house cleaner seems to be staffed with people from Mexico or South/Central America. I used to disagree when people said "they are doing the jobs that Americans won't do" but now I think it's absolutely true.

Allowing illegals to enter our country should be stopped by whatever means is necessary. Congress should also review and revise our current immigration policies allowing well qualified workers, people fleeing from an allied nation at war, and other immigrants based on current guidelines. Additionally, States and the Federal Governments should actively search out and find illegals living in our country and deport them and their kids back to their country of origin, unless they qualify to stay based on a waring nation country of origin.

How about sending them all to Ellis Island to be processed or… build a new Ellis island at our souther boarder?

Did we forget that taking in immigrants all came through Ellis island, vetted and then they found there way through the US through hard work and their community building.

To your point Don.

Good chart showing impact on border states

Cost of Illegal Immigration by State 2022<----- this year alone. With the expected increase that should increase.

Cost of illegal immigration 2022 updates reveal that a 1.13-million spike in unauthorized U.S. entries occurred between 2020-2022. Some months during this period may have seen a decline, but the highest so far since 2019 may be in January and February 2022.

"Give me your tired...." This was at a time of great expansion. Now we have commercials saying 17 million American children go to bed hungry. Our homeless population has grown. In those days they were asked can you support yourself or are you sponsored, are you healthy, do you speak English? There was an emphasis on being able to take care of yourself...no handouts... you were on your own. You could be placed back on the boat. I'm sorry but we are going thru hard times. Covid, not enough people working and a lot of people on government programs. These are times where the country should only be allowing people needing real asylum and those educated in ways to build the country up are allowed in. We support over 90 countries in different ways. These illegals have left country's that they themselves have contributed to the declines in. Them leaving will only allow the countries they left to further deteriorate. Please note that most are dressed well and carry cell phones. Their here for the handouts and to make more money with greater opportunity... that's not asylum. They are crushing the schools, hospitals and other systems where ever they move to in number. Border towns just can't handle the numbers coming across. A lot of these people are not good people. Countries are sending drugs, unloading prisons, terrorists, sex trafficking, gang members. Crime is very high at the border. Only by sending all back that don't come to an entry point to start with will this tide start to turn down. Then return all that are truly not in need of asylum. We are being invaded without one bullet being fired.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

What's this NIMBY stuff? We need to find a way. We're here. Except for Native Americans, we got here from somewhere else.

Have we gotten so smug and self-satisfied that we insist upon keeping it all for ourselves? Can we not find a way to share and to welcome those who weren't lucky enough to be born here?

Apparently, yes. We have gotten smug and self-satisfied. Repeat after me: entitled. We are entitled and selfish.

I'm big on doing it right
Venezuelans, Hondurans......I don't know about them

I just know about one illegal alien
From Mexico

Wrote about him awhile back;

Alien
When I hear that word my mind goes to some unhuman being
From another planet
Put ‘illegal’ in front of that and the subconscious considers a direct threat
From outer space

There’s plenty of propaganda in the media today
It’s up to us to determine the ore from the dross

I have a short personal story
It’s not propaganda
It’s not atypical
It’s as real as any true American story could be

I ask all active in this thread to read this story

An illegal alien
From Acapulco, the seamy side
Was wunna those kids treading water for tourists to toss coins from yachts
At sixteen he hooked up with coyotes to get into the US
Learned how to get along here, the hard way…work, all hours
Deported three times while learning
Came back over, three times, walking the desert at night
Slept where no one cares to be
Worked fields like none other
Wanted to be a ‘landcaseper’
Did OK at it, but didn’t put enough food on the table of his ambition
Became a roofer’s helper
A roofer
A framer
A finish carpenter
Took no hand outs
Paid his way
Now has his own business

I just sent a notarized letter to a dept here in Oregon, telling them why he should remain here while he studies to become a citizen

A recent update;

His mom was assassinated
Right in her home
Point blank to the temple
They (I hear they were federales) were professionals

.22 round
just one
all that's needed
It doesn't go thru the other side
Just rattles around the skull, doing Its lethal damage

His son, my grandson;
Graduated The Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program (OYCP)
With honors
I had the privilege of being his mentor
A few pics;

I will do all in my power to ensure his opportunity
And those like him, and his dad
They may be in the thousands
All the more reason

This is our nation
Nations will come and go
Historically, those choosing exclusivism go sooner than others

Update
My grandson just did a three year stint in the army

Wants to be a state cop
Right now he's security, on a quick response team
Did some clean up at the Bend OR grocery store shooting

Yeah, this is just one story
Maybe unique
Maybe not
A touching story, Gary. Wonderful to hear, especially here on this site where the minds seem to be narrowing in recent times.

That has been my position on this mess all along. I simply ask people, do you lock the doors of your house ? If you do , you do it to keep undesireables out .. that was the purpose of ...... the wall.
So erecting a 2,000 mile wall will be the same as locking our doors? :ROFLMAO:

We weren't even building a wall. It was more like a fence that could easily be scaled or cut through. In other words, it was a total waste of money.

Tales of Immigration 1880...2022

1880s Nikola Tesla and Charles Steinmetz electrical engineer, mathematician and inventors emigrate to NY, learn English. for decades their inventions and work dominated the field of electric engineering we still use their work every day.

1930s Nuclear scientists flee East Europe and Germany as Hitler rises to power. They each immigrate to the USA, learn English and become citizens. Later each one works 2 to win WWII and the Cold War...and start a nuclear power industry. They made many Nobel prize level discoveries, and we still use their brilliant work.
Eg Enrico Fermi, Edward Teller, Eugene Winger, Stanislaus Ulam, Johnny Von Neumann....

1900 Great grandparents emigrate from Russia/ Poland emigrate to NYC, via Ellis Island
All learned English from scratch and were naturalized. Started a factory and other businesses in NY

1981, sponsored Polish family from Warsaw emigrate to USA, political asylum.
Lots of paperwork and responsibility Now USA citizens.

2015..beurocracy for papers in EU, medical exam, tons of documentation, many interviews at Police, many years of work for permanent papers!

Just the ramblings of an old retired EE

Yes it is the same as locking ones doors. For those that think there should be no 'wall' [border deterrrent] then just leave your doors unlocked , allow whomever to just walk in, eat your food, lay on your couch , perhaps molest your daughter/wife, find your money [and take it] use your credit card, etc and so-on.

Adjusting for scale ... it is exactly the same thing.

I have no problem with LEGAL immigrants .... knock on the door and ask permission to enter. But those that need to sneek around the edge/slip through the cracks, etc ..... send them back.

I don't think we've forgotten the system of entering thru a legal port of entry, being vetted then finding their way through hard work and their community building. That is what

But this isn't about those that enter legally. Having empathy for those that want to improve their quality of life is what I read in most posts. That and not wanting millions of migrants flooding in illegally seems to be the two main points.

Yes, we, as U.S, Citizens, want a rational Immigration policy, or ANY policy that doesn't include amnesty
for criminals coming over the border. This is not a secure border. There is no plan beyond Title 42.
Is this crisis at the Southern border deliberate and intentional? Are we willing to give American lives
for fentanyl deaths, for crime and more and more drugs, human traffic, all to insure future votes?
But, I'm just one vote.

see, they say the same here.. and I can understand they might be right here. Barely anyone wants to go back breaking potato picking etc.. for minimum wage .. when they can stay at home and collect dole... ..

However I might be wrong but I don't think the USA dishes out dole to the population the way the Uk does, if they've never worked ... .. hence waiting staff working for $2 dollars an hour ( or low wages whatever it may be).. and tips..

So people who will work for low wages like that will almost certainly work for the wages that Mexican's and south Americans' are working for... so I think the argument, where it refers to illegal Immigrants / legal Immigrants.. working jobs that Americans' won't do.. falls flat on it's face..

They are welcome if they come here LEGALLY. It's the fact that they are coming illegally that's the problem.
Many of those that come here just want the opportunity to build a good life for there families. They are prepared to work hard and contribute to their new community. Yes, there are some who come here for bad reasons, we need to find a way to identify them. If there is abuse of the system, it should be addressed but not every person crossing borders is coming here for the wrong reasons.
There IS a system in place but they bypass that system by coming illegally.
