In Store Shopping vs. Online?

I totally agree with Amazon especially with Prime.

Groceries I also have delivered but..and it is a big but. I find that the fresh stuff like veggies and fruit is iffy. I have two large stores that deliver , There is a space for messages next to everything on the order form and at the end too and I do put things in the space, eg I only like pears if rock hard and very green and cauliflower has to be totally flawless or I won't use it. One store delivered an order and most of the produce was past it's best. I phoned and within the hour they turned up with replacements for everything that was no good and a credit note covering the original cost so I got about about $30 free . Big apologies and since then I have had no problems but I do state on the order that produce will be returned if not acceptable. They did agree that what was sent was wrong and explained to me that many of the pickers are young and don't do grocery shopping for themselves so they suggest putting the comment on the order so the picker will see it and be more careful. It seems to have worked well but I still avoid buying perishables unless I am really stuck.

When you think about it many groceries are heavy, gallons of milk, potatoes, gallons of bleach, bags of flour, cartons of soda and and canned goods so even if you use it just for those then you can do your perishables without much problems

My medications are also delivered free of charge and that is good if things are going bad.

I have a local butcher who doesn't deliver as a rule but he lives quite close to me and if I phone an order he will drop if off and he knows all my preferences re steaks etc so that works really well if I need to do it.

I just had a sewing room built and needed shelving for it. I bought Ikea. I have an Ikea shop about 40 minutes away but this time I bought online. Delivery was $99 but it was one charge for everything not per item so I had 6 bookcases a large worktable and a heavy double pedestal desk plus 30 storage boxes delivered for that one price. I would not have been able to get it in my vehicle anyway so t worked well for me. Walmart delivered 4 of those tall plastic drawer towers too and delivery was free.

I would be totally lost without online shopping.

Sounds like your sewing room is coming along well. With all those shelves and storage items you'll be so organized!

I am younger than a lot of folks here. But still joints like the tin man. I can see how ordering groceries would be nice for nights when you're really hurtin'.

Blondieboomer, yes I am so happy with it, I shall be moving over to the cottage any day now. I had a sewing room in the main house but it was not as well lit and no view so I am sure I will enjoy this new one. Downsizing is quite the chore but some things I just can't let go.. LOl

I've just finished ordering some items for Christmas gifts for the grown up grandchildren and their partners/sweethearts.
Delivery is free for orders over $100 which isn't hard to run up.

I have already bought other items to add to the Christmas boxes at a 50% online discount.
I like this form of shopping. It is quite painless and I am currently confined to hospital so I have plenty of time to let my fingers do the walking instead of my poor tired legs.

I've inspired my Dad over the years to order more and more online. My Dad's 89, and it's not always easy for him to go out and buy a TV, printer, computer, etc. Recently I told Dad I wanted to get a new "multi-function" office jet printer. We talked on the phone, looked at an online Best Buy ad. He ordered the printer online and had it shipped to me.
