Incident at icecream shop yesterday.

Yesterday after dropping the Spousal Equivalent's Harley off at the shop for service, we stopped at an ice cream shop and were waiting for our sundaes on the patio in front of the shop. All of a sudden, we heard honking and shouting coming from the pick-up window that was out of sight around the corner of the building. That escalated into screaming and insults and more honking. After a while of that, a car full of adult women came peeling around the corner, followed by another car with two adult women in it. They took off down the parking area and pulled out into the street and drove off. The S.E. said, "If they come back, I want you to RUN, NOT WALK through that door that says, "Employees Only".

When the young lady manager came out with our order, we asked what that was all about. She said the women in the second car were taking offence at how long the women in the first car were taking and a honking and shouting match broke out. She said the new employee who was trying to deal with it was now in the kitchen crying hysterically and throwing up and she was going to have to send her home to calm down. She said she was just happy that shooting wasn't involved as that had happened at that location a couple of years ago.

I swear that this world is going crazy.

I suppose the problem is the rigid drive-thru format, if the customers were in the store the counter person could serve the next person while the first person is still making up their mind which flavor to have. I wonder how much time is reasonable to allow a carload of people to make their choices, perhaps the place could have a sign that if it takes you more than x number of seconds per person you need to come into the store instead of use the drivethru.

Where I live, during the summer months, long lines are common. Sometimes, people tire of waiting, but I have never heard of an altercation such as this.
