Informed Delivery and mail not received

What is the longest it has taken for you to received mail that Informed Delivery showed it would be delivered soon? I received an email yesterday showing mail from my bank that I did not receive yesterday or today. If it wasn't from my bank, I wouldn't care.

I don't know what you mean ?
The Post Office here has a service they call "Informed Delivery". They scan the mail that you will be receiving that day or soon after to let you know what to expect. I received an email showing that I would be getting a statement from my bank showing my accounts, etc. but I didn't get it.

oh we don't have that here... is that for snail mail, and is it because you have mailboxes outside of your homes ?

I just went back and read the email I received yesterday. It says to give them a week before we report mail we don't receive as missing. I'm not going to wait a week for banking information.

I quit Informed Delivery. I signed up for it while we were still traveling around the country, but the service proved to be very spotty. Some things would show up on the report but when the relative who picked up our mail from the box would call to tell us what had come, there would be items that hadn't been on the report.

It just wasn't worth bothering with.

I love informed delivery. Theres a box you can check if you have not received the mail in a few days and they will investigate. So far its been very helpful to me.

Questions for folks who have informed delivery:

Do you receive an email that just lists the sender or do you receive an actual picture of the piece of mail?
Is it only for first class and parcels, I'm assuming they don't mention bulk (junk) mail?

It usually is a picture of the actual mail though sometimes it will say they don't have a picture of it. It includes junk mail too. Everything.

I always check it to see if it is worth going downstairs to check my mail. I have been getting this service since I moved in here four years ago.

We have a post office box. It's a 45 minute round trip from our home to that small post office so we find informed delivery to be extremely useful. It isn't 100%, but it's pretty darned good.

The mail isn't scanned at our local post office but rather at the main sorting hub so there's still room for errors to occur. Most commonly, those errors involve a letter that was mis-sorted (not addressed to us) prior to scanning, and then someone catches the error prior to it being delivered.

wow !! 45 minute trip to get your mail ?

Please call your bank asap, as there is a scam about that subject.
Do not click on any links, just delete.
I'm going to call them as soon as they open. The email I received was from Informed Delivery. It had the pictures of the 2 pieces of mail from my bank that I was to receive and I received one of them but not the other.

I also use the USPS Informed Delivery. It is a 10 minute round trip walk to my mailbox. But I’ve found it to be spotty as well. Sometimes a piece of mail that is shown arriving on one day will actually not arrive until the next.

We're so fortunate to have Canada Post mail boxes in our lobby. If you have a parcel, a key with a number on it is put in your mailbox. You never get an email from Canada Post. If you do, it's a scam.

I used to get this and I liked

I agree. In the US, the Post Office service can vary greatly. I've had letters mailed at 8 AM, and be in my mailbox by 2PM. And it took 3 months to get a package. I still have packages that are "IN TRANSIT" from the 90s.

I got it today! So anytime Informed Delivery says you will be getting something "soon" and you don't, give it more time. In the past, when it said something would be delivered, it was that day. As I said before, this wouldn't have bothered me if it had not been from my bank with my account information on it. Seeing it in my box was such a relief! I just thought I would let you know.

This is why I like online banking. No waiting for anything...I can check my accounts anytime I want. Also if any fraudulent activity occurred or a mistake, it can be caught immediately rather than waiting...say ...a month to get a statement. I've discontinued paper statements for everything. Another reason is just what you stated...I don't want to receive information, especially of a financial nature in my box. Too many mail delivery mistakes are made around here. I often get mail for my neighbors and even for people who don't live anywhere near our street. Several years ago I got what I knew was a check for a man in a completely different town. Nothing about our names or addresses were similar.
I took it to the mail supervisor at the P.O.

@jujube...I find that the P.O. doesn't take pictures of junk mail or the Costco sales brochure, things of that nature.

Re the OP: Informed delivery showed a picture of what appeared to be an 8 x 10 manilla envelope from the court system for my son. He never got it. I checked "did not receive this mail piece" on the site and even mentioned it to a delivery supervisor. My son, who knew it was paperwork concerning his wife's estate, went to the courthouse clerk and picked it up. I'm very glad you received it. I know it can be maddening thinking that something is floating around out there with our personal, sensitive information on it !
