Instant coffee ..........

Ours never went away. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

After five decades it still makes decent coffee but, given the time and effort it takes to set it up and then later to clean it, I generally resort to instant. Instant coffees all taste pretty much the same to me.
My perkers ;) electric or s/top are both a pain to clean as well, and it is getting harder to buy a more course grind of coffee, which IMO makes for a better cup in a perker. If a person actually goes to the store and grinds their own , or has a grinder at home I suppose that's the ticket. But I no longer go, and do not own a grinder. So, think I'll go back to my one cup dripper.

Never drink any kind of coffee. Ugh! When I lived in NYC, I used to drink instant tea. Where did that go? I don't really miss it. I'd rather make my own tea.

Ahh Coffee, it's been a bit of a journey for me.

Brewing a full pot goes to waste and yes I know you can make half a pot - but is it worth the hassle?

I've tried the single serve coffee makers, but for the cost and hassle I might as well grab a cup at one of local coffee bistros.

I have just recently started drinking instant coffee and It's not terrible - I can heat the water up in seconds using an electric water kettle. Also nothing to clean up but the coffee cup.

For those bean aficionados, is it purely the taste or is it the grinding ritual that raises it to the next level for you?
There are times when instant coffee fills the need and other times when the morning brewing ritual starts our day off on the right foot.

Without further ado, my list according to taste not cost:
1. Coffee Bistro (taste, ambiance, going out)
2. Nespresso single serve (close second, lots of coffee choices)
3. Fresh ground brewed at home (more waste, slower and more clean up)
4. Instant (Nescafe Taster's Choice)

We use a keurig for our morning coffee. I drink one cup a day, Ron sometimes has a second cup in the afternoon.

@Gary O' we drank the same Kirklands brand for years, but both noticed a change in the taste about a year ago. At first I didn’t think about it being the coffee, I thought maybe they’d changed the formula in the creamer I used. It when Ron complained (he drinks his black) we decided to switch brands and now use Peet’s dark roast pods.

I use Folgers instant coffee for iced coffee. I make mine with regular milk, Ron’s with almond milk. Dissolve the coffee in a couple tablespoons of tap water, fill the cup with milk, pour over ice in a tall glass, then add flavored creamer of choice.

Every bit as good as Starbucks flavored iced beverages and the flavor choices are as plentiful as the flavored creamers!

I don't think I've had instant coffee in the last 50 years. Backpacking? I don't think so. I always took instant cocoa.

Anyone here drink it ?

What is considered the best tasting ?

I did once, but can't stand to look at it now. I stick with tea. However, during the days when I traveled extensively, curiously, I always drank black coffee. The trouble with tea ism few seem to know how to make it. Coffee was always the safe choice.
