..in other parts of the world right now? You know I had to word it like that, since I can't pass up the chance to maybe get a laugh:p

I'm on the Oregon coast and it's, wow, 2.99 for regular right now. Funny how they'll drop it that far, can't remember when it was less then that for years, and then hike er back up again before we can blink. I don't know much about politics (who didn't know that) but I wondered if the gas prices dropped because of election time? First time I ever wondered that, doi!!
 

Petrol is extremely expensive here in the UK which is why most of us drive smaller cars that folks in the USA...

We've had a big drop in the price of Petrol (gas) here in the last week...gone from around £1.28 per litre... around £6.40 per gallon ... which is equivalent to $10.23 per gallon US


Now it's at around £1-21 per litre...approx £6.05

I soooo envy you all in the USA with your cheap petrol prices

I just got lucky, ran near empty til today, and it had dropped to 2.99.

Even our prices are too high for me to take any leisure drives. Used to be fun on Sundays, we always took rides when I was growing up. Now it would be like irresponsible for me to spend money on a "drive":( Well, when I get my retirement money coming in, I plan to put aside enough so I can take a drive at least once a month, just for the hell of it, LOL!!

That's about what it is here. Once both of us were 60 and had our free OAP bus passes, we cut way back on car use. I normally just drive once a week to grocery shop.
 
I'm planning to do the bus as well, and won't move anywhere there isn't one. If I get set up the way I am hoping to, I may sell my old truck ;)
 
Lowest I've seen are $2.98 per gal., nice to see it under $3, the middle class are struggling enough to get by without being raped at the gas station for no good reason.

I don't think it has anything to do with your election. I think the Saudi's dropped the price because they are trying to affect Russia and Iran and Syria (all of whom they would like to see disappear) and since all three and particularly Russia have economies that are heavily dependant on oil,allowing the price of oil to drop back down will definitely have an impact.

Right now we are paying $1.20 per litre or roughly $4.80 per gallon. So your $2.99 looks like a 'freebie' almost. Well bit of an exaggeration but it's a lot better than ours.

Geesh, why is your so much higher Debby, and HollyDolly's? I guess that's sort of a dumb question, it has to be the difference in cost of living and all that I suppose.
 
Now is a good time to fly. Airline prices have dropped and prices are almost wholesale. Checkout Southwest, Air Tran, Allegiant and the other low cost airlines. Some really good prices. And remember, bags fly free at Southwest.

Watched a special on the San Palo runway 35L last night. Many, many accidents on this too short, too slippery runway. Although this crash, where the plane slid off the runway, was deemed pilot error. This airport is located right in the middle of the city. Have you ever flown into this airport?
 
We're at $1.10 litre or about $4.40 gallon. Used to be people from my neck of the woods slipped over the bridge to Detroit, Michigan and filled up. But now with the Canuck Buck so low it really isn't worth it to do.

I have never flown international, but I am aware of this airport and Runway 35L because I would hear the international pilots complain about it. I know the runway has a bad reputation because of poor drainage and I think the runway is located on top of like a mound where the plane, if it left the runway, could slide down the side because of it being on top of this mound. I never had the desire to fly international. I know most foreign airports are safe, but there are many that are not. Sao Paulo in Brazil is a very large airport with a poor safety record. The problem they have is that they don't want to shut any runways down long enough to fix the problem the right way.

Here in the U.S. safety is number one and if it means shutting a runway down for two weeks to fix a problem, they will. When I flew to San Francisco, my favorite runway was 28L or 28R for landing. Those runways require the plane to come in over the Bay and the passengers could get a look at the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge on clear days.

Just notice ours was down to £1.23/litre unleaded.

Europe has always had more expensive petrol. I think it's because it's so highly taxed. That's why you always (used to) see very small cars in Europe. Not any more though. Lots of SUV's.

Cigarettes were always much more expensive than the US - highly taxed.

When the army flew me into SF in 1957, we landed the way you described, over the bridge and bay. Beautiful sight.
Sorry I highjacked the original thread. But I do hope gas keeps going down.

The Saudis refused to put any "boots on the ground" for their contribution against ISIS...this is their way. Also, the U.S. has become far more productive and saturated the market....they had little choice. It's win/win for us...higher exports/lower domestic prices.

There's so much I don't know about other countries, and just like Lee mentioned, the Canadian dollar is not worth so much more now then the American:( And you guys have way higher taxes?? We in the US best be feeling grateful instead of gripin all the time hey;)

That is news, about the SUVs now. When I think of Europe, it's always the small streets and tiny cars. 'course I get most of my info from movies, now that's scarey, :lofl: I think my life would have been a lot better if I hadn't seen movies and TV, LOL;)
