In view of present tensions and controversies going on within and without the country people seem to be afraid to initiate discussion or post their thoughts on these issues. Is it a fear that such discussions would lead to the dreaded BANNED Political arena? OK then. I guess we will just stay with how is your weather, games, cookie recipes and other Banal thoughts.:playful:

Well, depending on what the topic is, I really now watch how I reply, if I even do reply. Sometime replying can put a person in "deep do-do".

No, everyone is not afraid.

Lon, you have relentlessly tried to sneak in a political discussion. Fortunately you've been stopped cold each and every time. Political discussions are not allowed here at SF - you've been told time and time again. Obviously you're not happy about the non-political discussion policy, so periodically you post a jab.

There are plenty of topics aside from "how is your weather, games, cookie recipes and other Banal thoughts." (btw do you classify your assisted living threads as banal?) If you think this is a banal, boring forum and it's not exciting enough for you, maybe it's past time for you to find another forum which suits your preferences and needs.

Oh my. Lon, Lon, Lon. This is how it goes down; you go to a site that is political, and then when your blood pressure hits it's max, or you realize that politics is the ULTIMATE BORE then you come back to your happy place, SeniorForums, to relax, recoup, recharge, and finally restore that beautiful smile in your avatar.

Once you find yourself bored with all this laid back friendship and happiness then you go back to the shark tank. Repeat.

You don't really think SF is all about "weather, games, and cookie recipes, do you? It's hard to keep up with all the new thread topics imaginable. You just need to look for them. If nothing interests you then...therein lies the problem perhaps?

Actually, the only banal thought I've read lately is the one you just posted. :eek:nthego: Oh, and I had a political discussion with a friend yesterday, not knowing if we agreed with each other or not. We did. With a neighbor? No way. So in a way, you are correct. On the forums here? No way. On some other forums it happens and it gets ugly fast.

amen!

Lon, you are sounding like a broken record!
I agree with Meanderer. Lon, replace your boredom and complaining with imagination.

Why don't YOU be the one to add creativity, and exciting thoughts to other people's threads. Your threads have become repetitive.

Wow. to all.

Lon is supposedly writing a book; one would think that would keep him occupied/busy along with all the other activities he's talked about in his assisted living threads. and various other thread topics.

But apparently he's decided to continue pouting and trying to stir things up because he can't have his way. It gets tiresome.

btw here he says goodbye and claims to be "leaving the board"

Two things about politics....One, they effect all of us...and actually should be discussed. Two, no matter the forum, if it is a political thread?...and those threads upset a person? why would they open the thread & read the content? They cannot become upset if they do not read what is there. Why should the rest of us be restrained from such conversations ?

OK, they're not permitted here got it . But the why really makes no sense . It is though some are more interested in controlling the thoughts & discussion(s) of others . And when ya think about it? That is much more scary than any political discussion could ever be........jmo

What are YoU so afraid of Lon?

I don't come here too often, but when I do it is a friendly place....I do go to a forum that does have a Political page....It's not worth it to get involved in that now a days....It could get nasty....so I like coming here once and a while...

Lara, I do read some here that are very interesting....Yes, I too think the poster should go to another forum with his political views...But can come here to be nice!!!! We all have different opinions, but sometimes they can get nasty...Ha
So I come here where people are civil....Have a nice day....It's a beautiful day in New Jersey....:love_heart:.

Hi Lon,I have a suggestion,if you really want to get into a political debate, head over to the AARP website.
There are some really angry posters in that political forum.A couple of times in the 5yrs when I was a member {Thank God,I'm no longer there} I would post a comment but nothing mean spirited. One of the posters was down right nasty to my comment.I thought "OMG whats wrong with this person,I guess he needs a place to vent' I'm sure you'll find somebody there you can really spar with Sue

Lon, you posted, a short while ago, that you were leaving SF. Man, go already, and don't let the door hit you in the butt, on your way out!
