In the province where I live now, they're called Strata. I think.

You own the apartment, but the hallways, grounds, etc., are communally owned. You pay monthly fees for maintenance of the common areas. A condo board makes various ongoing and specific decisions.

Row houses can have a similar condo setup.

that's exctly what I did... much as it goes against the grain to close the windows.. but it meant I could turn the heating on for a short time, and it was contained then.. My daughter ran a little while ago, and she was giving me little tips on how to keep warm without putting the heating on. She wear hooded sweatshirts at home, and she said that simply putting the hood up retains the heat in the body.. if she's in the livingroom watching tv and sitting under her Sherpa Fleece blanket..

..and row houses here are called Terraced houses.... altho' rarely Leasehold,.. it's usually always apartments who tend to be leasehold properties.. but of course if a Terraced home or a detached home is divided into a 2 family apartment then it will always become Leasehold

It's called a condo if each apartment is individually owned. The condo owners can rent them out if they want (depending on condo regulations).

When I lived with my sister, I told a coworker I lived in an apartment. She asked asked me how much rent we paid. I said my sister owned the condo. The coworker said huffily, "Then why didn't you say it was a condo?"

So to some, the difference is real. But in a bricks-and-mortar sense, a condo is an apartment. (Or a row house.)

I bought quite a lot of fleece hoodies in the sales last summer and they were the best thing for cold days. I think I will be wearing them very soon. (y)
