Is it hard to get just the right temp. for sleeping, or when you're awake?

I leave my thermostat at 65F (18C), so it never gets colder than that, but it can get really warm in summer because I don't have air conditioning. Why not? The cost of central air isn't worth it to me for the 4 to 5 weeks of hot summer weather added to the maintenence. I use fans in doors and at night to try to cool down the house (or, as I refer to it, my summer sweat box). Window ACs are too heavy and bulky for me to manipulate. It can be 70F in the house and sometimes that feels cool, other times it seems warm and sometimes it's just right. Go figure.

^^^ they have people for that.

My central heat and air works very well. I do have to adjust it during the day sometimes because it can easily get too cold or too hot. I'd rather that than for it to not work well. I keep a comforter on my bed year 'round because I like sleeping under it. I just toss it to the foot of the bed when I need to if I get too warm during the night. I'll wake up and grab it again and pull it up if I get too chilly.

I can imagine how it would be if I had to share my environs with someone.

I, too, keep a comforter on my bed all year long. I took it off the bed for a few weeks though in the summer and my bed felt naked and I had trouble sleeping with it that way. So, I put the comforter back on and turned the AC up more and then was able to sleep 💤 better.

A handyman could put an air conditioner in your bedroom for the summer and take it out when it gets cold.

I've heard that they're finally making some portable A/C units that work pretty good; I guess you can just roll 'em around to whichever room you're in.

😄 Yep! Naked is the word. The sheet alone feels like tissue paper. Even when I throw the comforter off for awhile when I get too warm, it can't be for long. Shortly, I'm waking up and reaching for it again.
