I might add that, yes, there are places in Mexico where tourists are "strongly" advised not to go. Many of these places are close to the US border. Apparently, 25 Canadians have died in Mexico since 2016. That's about 4 people every year. A miracle, I think, because 1.9 million Canadians go down there every year.
Hack, in the city where I live, we have had almost 50 violent deaths in 2022. The population is almost 700,000. A little simple math will tell you that you are a lot safer going down to Mexico than walking on the streets of my Canadian city.
Now, talk about that "windy city" of Chicago. About 1,500 folks met their end violently last year. Facts like these makes Mexico seem like a pretty nice place to sit by the ocean and drink beer while those up north are freezing their buts shoveling snow. Adios amigos!
