Is there a cat food shortage??

I went grocery shopping today and paid special attention to the canned cat food section because of this thread. There were a lot of empty shelves!
Hey — who's the handsome young fella? :D

Has it been mentioned that cats attend meetings in the dead of night? Neighborhood cats will meet and sit in a quiet circle. Then they break up and go their separate ways. I've never witnessed one of these meetings but read books by cat behaviorists where this feline version of Comintern is described.

We don't have cats anymore but the last one we had was a really finicky eater. I think she would rather starve than eat tuna in place of her salmon flavored cat food.

This isn't on the subject of cats but I'm having trouble getting a cuddle bone for my bird. He really needs it to keep his beak from getting to long. I know the vet would trim it but he is so old I think he would drop dead from fright.

At the store where I usually shop I always buy Pixel a 3-pound bag of the more high-end, "more nutritional" catfood. I only have one cat, but I also feed a couple of feral cats. Still, the 3-pound bag lasts til my next payday, so the extra buck-and-a-half is no big deal.

So anyway, the store gave me a $3-off coupon last month for the brand of catfood I usually buy, but this month that brand and all the other high-end brands weren't there, neither dry nor canned. All they had was the cheap stuff, and there wasn't much of that. But the cashier was nice enough to let me use that coupon. And sure, that was nice, but since it was one of their coupons, it was only fair, really.

Pixel doesn't seem to mind what brand I get. He's more hog than cat.

hamburgers are nothing unless they are flavored with catsup:
