Is There Anything Coming Down In Price ??

If you think prices are expensive now....just wait a few weeks/months. If the Tariffs being touted in Washington are instituted, prices on many consumer products will soar to levels we've never seen.

If you want a new car, for example, NOW would be the time to buy it.
I saw the owner of a Lexus dealership interviewed this morning on the news. He indicated that if tariffs are implemented as described the cost of new cars could go up an average of $3k-$5k per vehicle. Used cars would also rise accordingly. And the cost of parts used for repairs would also rise. Many of the parts are coming from those countries under consideration.

Ok went shopping today and pork, beef, and chicken seem to be off their highs of 12-24 months ago.

Eggs were $35/5 doz large - 10 % senior discount. Of course the CINO's here in state charge 6% sales tax on food, despite giving rebates and tax cuts heavily weighted to the wealthiest residents.

Really bad news if you like duck, price is sure to jump and availability decrease:

NYT - "Long Island duck is a delicacy savored across the country for its mild flavor and tender meat. But its future has been cast into doubt after the last duck farm on the island was quarantined for an outbreak of bird flu.

The farm, Crescent Duck Farm in Aquebogue, N.Y., must now kill its entire flock of almost 100,000 ducks and may go out of business, its owner said in an interview. The highly infectious virus, H5NI avian flu, was detected last week.

The Suffolk County Health Department said that the farm was under quarantine and that state and federal agriculture officials were on site to conduct “depopulating, cleaning and disinfection activities” at the facility, which supplies ducks to many restaurants in New York City and elsewhere. Similar outbreaks have led to the culling of herds and flocks in more than a dozen states.

Doug Corwin, who is part of the fourth generation of his family to operate Crescent Duck Farm, which has been open since 1908, said on Thursday that the future of his business was uncertain."

Really great people and product. I've met the owner at trade shows(we had customers in common) and ate plenty of their ducks. It's far superior to the birds out of Indiana, etc. Long Island was a mainstay of US duck production for more than a 100 years.

The picture's intent was to be humorous, but it strikes me as insulting and denigrates women by suggesting in difficult times women have only one option to feed to themselves.

Men are pigs, we don't need any further proof of same.
My father told me something like that. He said although he was a relatively 'good' man, he too was infected.

It's reality, deal with it.
Painting roughly half the world's population with such an ugly, broad brush is a shocking move.

If you're referring to men's s#x drive, I've got a news flash - women also have that drive. Most people learn early how manage it and to behave appropriately.

Who hasn't come across inappropriate men AND women who live for the double entendres? The vast majority of adults classify it as juvenile behavior and eliminate those folks from our lives as best we can. If we have the misfortune of being related to some, we give a withering look, change the subject, and move on.

Re: OP.... Diamonds are coming down in price.

So the idea that diamonds might somehow lose their value seems unnatural. And yet prices are falling fast and show no signs of stopping. Natural diamonds cost 26% less in shops than two years ago, a drop during a time of high inflation that would be extraordinary were it not dwarfed by the poor fortune of their identical twins, lab-grown diamonds, which are now 74% cheaper than in 2020.

A lot of the traditional applications for diamonds are fading from engagement rings to cocktail rings aka crumb cakes. Real good stones are holding their value pretty much but medoiocre merchandise does not have the demand anymore to offer a 500% mark up.

It seems that in a thread titled, "Is There Anything Coming Down In Price ??" you want to introduce misandry. You make a very blanket statement in regard to the 4 billion males in this world, then partly reinforce that by suggesting it is a 'reality' that should, 'deal with it'.

Would it be better for you to start a new thread with the word 'misandry' in the title?

Since you identify yourself as a man, you could perhaps create the opening post with a list all the reasons as to why you consider yourself to be a pig, as you put it.

Sooooo…after the election I quit watching/reading the news. So I am lost when I see the posts that imply that somehow…magically….fentanyl is going to disappear. As a person who lives in arizona I do cheat a little with arizona news…and there have been another three tunnels found by nogales. That fentanyl is not going away….simply becoming more valuable.

Apparently there's a trend to stop buying anything beyond essentials in 2025. Apparently some folks are taking "no-buy" pledges. Makes sense given the dual situation of rampant consumerism since 2020 and the threat of higher prices staring us in the face.

Being well past the acquisition phase, additional material possessions hold little interest for me. I'm more apt to splurge on experiential extras like vacations, subscriptions, event tickets, gifts and so forth.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if this catches on.

Soon we will address the price of health care to treat overdoses, the costs of fighting fentanyl trafficking, pursuing criminal justice efforts, and lost productivity in the workforce, as well as the economic costs of human lives lost to overdose and the reduced value of life for overdose survivors. Once we stop that, inflation will decrease.
We should revisit this thread in a year to see if any of your predictions come true. My opinion is that all of them will be wrong and inflation will have skyrocketed.
