Isn't this lovely?

Cruel and horrible, the owner should be put in a psychiatric facility!

I wouldn't... but not because it's cruel... It's not. The animal is not in pain and I'm sure wasn't hurt by this mess... not anymore than usual grooming. Show dogs stand for hours being groomed for competition. It just seems like a waste of time. Why go through all that trouble. Ps.. the dye is vegetable and not harmful.. The dog is fine... just goofy looking. Fortunately the dog has no idea what it looks like..

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through.

People do though .. kids (and many adults) want their pets involved with their fun night ... I see it every year.

BTW ... looking at the first picture of the poodle .... isn't that dog wearing a zipped-up blanket sleeper? He's not painted.

Guess it's more common than I thought. Reading up on it, do not use a permanent dye as it is toxic to the animal. There are safe dyes just for this purpose. Still,I wouldn't do it to my pet.

Why don't these crazy sickos buy a toy and dress it up? I am not sentimental about animals, but these insane people should be prosecuted for cruelty, imo.

So exactly HOW is this cruel? No toxic dye... just elaborate grooming.. My Goldendoodle LOVES to be groomed and will stand for hours being fluffed and puffed. She is so excited to go to the groomer. BUT.. I guess the animal could die of embarrassment... lol!

Of course it is cruel to treat an animal like a human, they are a separate species and that should be respected. People who indulge in this stupid nonsense are doing it for their own gratification, NOT the wellbeing of the animal!

So?.... So long as the animal is not harmed or hurt... and as I said.. most enjoy being groomed.. No big deal. Of course the animal has NO concept of how it looks.. so YES.. it's for human enjoyment.. I don't see what's wrong with that.

Yes, they are "separate species", but there are wives that will tell their husbands "go get the newspaper" and they will go get it.........same way as training a dog to fetch the newspaper.
Sorry, but just had to throw that in!

Some people think is ridiculous to dress up small kids for a beauty pageant, while others will disagree. Same thing goes for dressing up a dog or cat. As far as coloring their coat, I have no idea how that is done. How could a dog stand there and take a spray can going?

Bottom line is (I guess), "to each their own".

As CR says... to each his own. I personally wouldn't care to do this, but if someone wants to waste time and money on this.. it's their choice. The pets DO belong to their owners.

Yes they do belong to their owners, but in the UK pets can be removed from their owners if they are incapable of looking after them properly, which these idiots are!

I hate to be the one to bring it up, Pappy, but is it possible that your OP picture is Photoshopped? The blonde hair just doesn't look right to me ...

Even though I wouldn't go this far with any animal that lived with me (I agree with Justme that an animal should be an animal, and that we shouldn't project our psychoses upon them), I have to admit I laughed at most of these.

I would venture to guess these animals are pampered pooches.. and very well looked after.. As I said.. you can have your opinion.. just don't be so dramatic about it. These dogs are not injured or abused.

I'm in complete agreement QuickSilver. Giving your dog a haircut and then using a vegetable dye to colour it isn't even close to being cruel. Those who are complaining here don't have a clue as to real cruelty. Do some research into animal abuse and then come back and compare this harmless bit of fun to real abuse! Go to the average farm, the average slaughterhouse, check out dog-meat markets in Korea and China or Google China fur farm videos and all of you will see cruelty.

I have to agree with QuickSilver about this (in red below).
