Israel Has Declared War after Unprecedented Hamas Attack

I’m not sure how educated the British are about Islam. That’s best assessed by a Brit. If they think the divide between Islam and non-believers of Islam started back in the 40s, then they too need more information about Islam. The Quoran is over a thousand years old and the violent behavior of Muslims toward non-believers like Jews and other religions (called infidels) is dictated in the Quoran.

Oh well I suppose it was too much to expect no-one to start a fight here in the protests..:(

Two of my cousins were in Israel on the 4th for the Ra'im festival. They still haven't been found. Seems stupid now, but I think a lot of Jewish Americans these days feel like Israel is the safest place in the world for them to be. My 92yr-old aunt still refers to Israel as Our Sanctuary and The Promised Land.
(she immigrated from Italy to Calif in the late 40s)
That is awful, I hope your cousins are safe.

Your post at #416 in this thread suggests that:
Frankly, I've known about Islam for at least a decade, if not two. So what, exactly, did you mean by the above post?
It means exactly what it said. If you read it again you will see that nowhere does it say the U.S.A. should attack and sort out the entire Islamic world. You’re reading words that aren’t there and making incorrect assumptions. It’s also not about what you know or don’t know about Islam. It’s about the American people doing an in-depth analysis of the theology in order to seek solutions to the problem.

Okay ... and now you're kind of saying the same thing again. How exactly would the American people come to solutions to the problem? Certainly not just by understanding.

That is awful, I hope your cousins are safe.
Thank you, Rose.

I finally got a call-back a couple hours ago: The missing cousins were all located and they're already on their way home!

In addition to the obvious challenges, they'd lost their cellphones and IDs, they'd gotten separate rides out of the danger zone from people they didn't know, and one was taken to a hospital and then transferred to another, but nobody knew for sure which hospitals.

But everyone's fine!

Hamas Accused of Blocking Evacuations, IDF Cites 'Human Shield' Strategy

Gaza City: The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has accused Hamas of using ordinary Palestinians as “human shields.” An IDF spokesman has said that the terror outfit is not letting civilians come out of the northern part of the Strip.

Hamas is trying to stop Palestinian civilians from evacuating northern parts of Gaza, a CNN report quoted IDF spokesman Lt Col Jonathan Conricus as saying. And, by doing so, Lt Colonel said that they are turning them into "human shields."

The IDF issued a warning on Saturday that civilians in and around Gaza should move south of the Strip. Following this, reports of several Gazans heading south surfaced. In its social media updates, the Israeli Defense Force stated that Hamas militants are concealed within Gaza City, even within structures where "innocent civilians" are present.

Emphasizing people who want to save their lives should go south, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Friday, “We are going to destroy Hamas infrastructures, Hamas headquarters, Hamas military."

Israel wanted to separate Hamas militants from the civilian population, Defense Minister Yaov Gallant added. Israeli forces would initiate ground incursions after what Conricus described as assessing the situation on the ground.

On being asked whether the evacuation suggested Israel was clearing the way for a ground incursion, Conricus told CNN, “(We need to) see how many civilians are left in the area. And understand how many of them have been blocked by Hamas from actually evacuating."

Once the situation is permissible for significant combat operations, they will commence, as Conricus suggested. For their own security, he reiterated that residents should evacuate the area. Israel has said that residents of Gaza will be allowed to return when the war is over.

Between this mess in Israel, and the ongoing war in Ukraine, I fear that more nations will be sucked into these conflicts. The US support for Israel may increase the odds of terrorists sneaking across our borders and committing their acts in some of our cities. If Putin begins to lose even more in Ukraine, I just hope Russia has policies to keep that lunatic from pushing the nuclear "button" as his final act before being deposed.

I really hate what HAMAS is doing. Their attacks are unconscionable, despicable, heinous, cowardly and have cast we Muslims in a bad light yet again, have caused unspeakable harm to both Israelis and Palestinians. Let's not forget that among the dead and injured are innocent children on both sides. Unfortunately, some (ignorant) people lump Muslims with no malice in their hearts, who are going about their lives, just trying to make it like everyone else, into the terrorist mold. Most of the over one billion Muslims in the world are not terrorists and do not support terrorists activities.

Another thing these terrorists do is call out the name of God (Allah) while perpetrating these horrible deeds. That in of itself is a major sin. I hope they all burn in the hottest, most agonizing hell there is. Here are Quranic Surahs about killing of innocents:
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.”
(5:8 - Saheeh International translation)

"[w]hoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(5:32 – Saheeh International translation)

“And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
(8:61- Saheeh International translation)

Here is an explanation about Surah 5:32 from The Fountain.com

"KILLING UNJUSTLY AND RETALIATION

The murder stated in the verse as equal to killing all of mankind is limited to “killing an innocent person who did not cause disorder or corruption on the earth.” This means that if a person sheds the blood of innocent people, there can be retaliation and that killer can face a penalty similar to his own crime. If such a person causes disorder on the earth and therefore causes people to die, if the killings follow one upon another without the killer thinking why they had taken a life and if the victims do not know why they are being killed-as is happening in some parts of the world today-the criminal or the group of criminals who cause such anarchy can be executed.

The people who start wars against God and His Messenger, who cause disorder on the earth, who habitually transgress against people’s lives, properties, and chastity, thereby disturbing the order of society, corrupting the generation, should be executed or sent into exile in accordance with the gravity of their crime."
I was hoping to hear your thoughts on this situation @OneEyedDiva. Thank you for sharing them.

I am frightened, praying. There is such a sense of dread of what is about to happen.
Anyone who can pray, please do so.

There will surely not be a single building left intact in Gaza.

That's exactly how the evangelicals want Jews to think. All Jews need to be in Israel for the END, which is what they fervently desire. They do a lot of work on this in Israel. I have inside knowledge of this fact, I have a "spy". Evangelicals living in Israel may be "peaceful" but are dangerous.

It's safer for Jews to wander; it's unsafe to be in one place. Let Israel be our home, but let many of us wander.

Israel’s planned invasion of the Gaza Strip, dubbed as the country’s largest ground offensive since the 2006 invasion of Lebanon, has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions, according to senior Israeli military officers. The delay, however, is seen as a window of opportunity for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the simmering tensions between Israel and Hamas.

Please supply a verifiable news source, for what you just wrote here. In 2023, weather conditions are unlikely to be a reason for "postponing military operations " A link would be nice. JimB.

The Star of David has been graffiti'd on the doors of homes in Berlin, in a chilling echo of anti-Semitic persecution of Jewish people under the Nazis.

Pictures circulating online show the symbol was drawn on several buildings, with four cases reported to German police in recent days.

Jewish people living in the German capital have reported a rise in abuse following Hamas's bloody attack on Israel last week.

Among those targeted by vandalism was a young Jewish woman, who said she was shocked when she returned to her apartment on Thursday evening to find a star marked on her door.

The woman, who has a mezuzah - a Jewish house blessing - outside her flat, said that the incident was a 'huge shock' and left her 'scared'.

The incidents amount to a crime under German law, and seem to be an imitation of the persecution of Jews during the 1930s.

During the Holocaust, Nazi brownshirts painted the Star of David in white on the doors of Jewish businesses to discourage non-Jewish Germans from going into them.

It comes as a German intelligence chief claimed that 'some Palestinians are openly and blatantly calling for a kind of Kristallnacht 2.0,' in reference to the Nazis' violent coordinated attacks on Jewish homes and businesses in 1938.

Israel has killed a key Hamas commander as the death toll from airstrikes on Gaza topped 2,200 - with tanks now massing on the border in preparation for a full-scale ground invasion.

Murad Abu Murad, the head of the terror group's aerial operations, was killed over the past day when fighter jets struck an operational centre, the Israeli military said today.

Israel yesterday gave 1.1million civilians just 24 hours to escape to the south of the territory, a deadline that ended today at 3am BST. The UN has asked it to be revoked, saying it was impossible without 'devastating humanitarian consequences'.

Families in cars, trucks and donkey carts packed with their possessions crowded a main road heading southward from Gaza City. Hamas claims 70 people were killed when airstrikes struck a convoy of cars.

Israeli military drones dropped flyers yesterday demanding that all Palestinians, including those critically ill in hospital, evacuate the northern half of the strip or risk being caught in a military escalation. It said today that Gazans could flee safely via two main roads between 10am and 4pm local time (8AM - 2pm BST).

The IDF then launched its first 'localised' raids into the territory, deploying columns of Merkava main battle tanks alongside elite troops to track down hostages and 'cleanse the area of terrorists and weaponry'.

Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has said the country would 'never forget' last Saturday's terrorist attacks by Hamas and warned 'this is just the beginning'.

A lone man brandishing an Israeli flag was chased down a London street and surrounded on Saturday by furious pro-Palestine protesters after two women were spotted with images of paragliders stuck to their jackets in an apparent reference to Hamas militants.

Dramatic video footage shared online showed pro-Palestinian protesters' anger boiling over as they were seen trampling on Israeli flags, before the man with his own flag had to be encircled by police officers for protection.

It came during nationwide pro-Palestinian rallies on Saturday which saw thousands take to the streets of cities including London, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman today issued a stark warning to demonstrators, accusing some of glorifying terrorism and promoting genocide, as she said: 'The police are coming for you.'

Israel this afternoon re-opened the water supply in south Gaza after President Biden intervened - just days after warning of the importance of the 'rule of law.'
The about-turn happened three days after energy minister Israel Katz wrote on social media that no 'electrical switch will be turned on, no water hydrant will be opened and no fuel truck will enter' until the 'abductees' were free.
But today he said US president had opened talks Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
They had precipitated the decision to re-open the supply of water.

Israel's troops have been given more freedom to shoot at potential enemies in Gaza, according to a report, and could be ordered to spend 18 months in the enclave going door-to-door to root out Hamas.

A Hamas officer told The New York Times they intended to ambush the Israeli troops from behind once they entered Gaza, jumping out of hidden tunnels.
Senior Israeli officials told the paper that the ground invasion was due to have begun already, but has been delayed due to bad weather preventing aerial cover.

The delay has given Palestinians living in the densely-populated enclave more time to flee.
Israel Defense Forces said they will only commence 'significant military operations' in Gaza once all civilians have evacuated, a spokesperson told CNN.

One advantage of an 80yr-old president is that he totally gets the irony of a Jewish state being charged with war crimes.

Netanyahu got mad at Egypt's president a few days ago because he was sending humanitarian relief into Gaza. But I guess it'll get there now.

Netanyahu said his reason for "turning everything off" is so Gaza's civilians will want to leave the area before he starts wiping it off the face of the earth.
