Israel Has Declared War after Unprecedented Hamas Attack

I hope somehow there can be mercy and restraint somehow from Israel. Otherwise the world will now witness the death of a lot of ordinary helpless families.
It is the men who did the atrocities that need punishment.
We can but pray.

{sigh} someone else upset over a simple suggestion, an invitation. At the time, I'm sure most people thought the very idea of the creation of a Jewish state in the middle of the Arab world was absurd, yet it was done.

My own health is not so good, so out of concern for my well being, my son and daughter in law suggested I sell my house in Florida and move in with them several states away. Their house is large with several empty bedrooms and unused bathrooms. According to some of the folks on here, I should have been offended at that, but I wasn't. Not sure why an invitation and an offer to help is a bad idea.

YMMV
the terrorist states don't want the land...the temple...the houses....
they want the Jewish people...dead...and all western countries after that

There has been a debate in Israeli media over recent days whether to show the more graphic images of the victims of Saturday's terror attack so that the world would be left in no doubt as to the atrocities committed by Hamas.

Today, after meeting with Antony Blinken, Benjamin Netanyahu posted three images on the official Twitter account of the Israeli prime minister.

Two of the photos show the charred bodies of babies, a third shows a baby with multiple bullet holes. Mr Blinken was visibly shocked in a later news conference, and I imagine anyone else who saw the photographs would feel the same.

Israel is determined that its response to this horror must be the elimination of Hamas.

It has the support of its allies – posting these photos publicly is a move to get wider international support.

The images were not blurred on social media - but Sky News has chosen to do so.

Israel-Gaza latest: Gazans told 'go south if you want to live'; Israel drops warning leaflets; 'massive' rise in antisemitic attacks in London

and I have chosen to use the sky story with the blurred images rather than the horror of the vision of these innocent little souls.. on other websites..

..however it's very important for people to realise this is not propaganda, these are real babies..real little innocent lives who have been targeted by a terrorist regime...

Rose, how do you expect Israel to sort them out?

..don't you think those men who carried out these attacks on babies and the elderly by and large... should have been smart enough to know that they..and their own families would get it back in Spades...?

Eye for an eye in Arabic countries, they know that better than anyone..

I believe the Hamas attack was to provoke Israel into over reacting, and thus bring condemnation on Israel, and enrage all Muslim nations. Yes, Israel has the right to retaliate for the savage murdering and kidnapping of it's citizens. But Israel's threat to destroy the homes of over million Arab homes, is exactly what Hamas was hoping for.

This young woman is a hero & I can see a leadership role for her in the future. Her instinct saved many lives.

Israeli woman, 25, hailed as a hero for killing terrorists, leading team that saved kibbutz from Hamas

The Hamas was no match for an intrepid 25-year-old Israeli woman — who saved an entire kibbutz from harm by leading a group of residents to kill more than two dozen advancing terrorists, including five she slaughtered herself.

Inbar Lieberman, the security coordinator of Kibbutz Nir Am since December 2022, heard explosions early Saturday, when the terrorists launched their unprecedented attack on the Jewish state, according to Walla News.

She realized that the sounds were different than those heard during the usual rocket attacks on the kibbutz — located near Sderot and a stone’s throw from the Gaza Strip.

So Lieberman rushed to open the armory, distributed guns to the 12-member security team and coordinated their decisive response amid the unfolding attack.

She placed her squad of kibbutzniks in strategic positions across the settlement and set up ambushes that caught the gunmen off guard and turned the tables on them during their mission to inflict mass casualties.

Lieberman killed five terrorists by herself, while the others gunned down 20 more over four hours as they turned Nir Am into an impenetrable fortress — while nearby kibbutzim suffered heavy losses, Walla News reported.

Ilit Paz, cultural coordinator at Nir Am, told the news outlet Israel Hayom: “It was amazing. My husband was part of the standby unit that worked to prevent more casualties.

“They heard the shots and made contact on their own with other members of the standby unit and with Inbal — and they understood that they were told to be on standby.

“But Inbal made a decision not to wait and be jumped operationally. In fact, the fact that they did it early prevented dozens of casualties,” she added.

A social media post also lavished praise on the heroic woman, the Maariv daily reported.

“When it’s all over, this woman will receive the Israel Prize. The story of her heroism is a story that will go down in Israeli lore for generations. Inbal is the reason there is one kibbutz in the entire surrounding area that remains unharmed — Nir Am,” the post said.

At least 900 people have died and 2,600 others have been injured in Israel, according to the most recent numbers.

Yes the atrocities were appalling. But will killing a huge number of innocent people make it right. I can understand the need for revenge but I can only imagine the fear of ordinary families. How can they get away, to where?

Hamas is saying stay, Israel warning to flee. It must be like the end of the world.

The question is, is Israel's action self defence?

Remember these so called innocent families in Palestine are the mothers, the fathers, the sisters , brothers, aunts and uncles of terrorists.. they will be of the same terrorist mind as their baby killing sons

I'm sure many are. But as always, in wars, many will be just peaceful ordinary folks. More babies and children will die.

As the Israeli army masses forces in preparation for a full-scale invasion of Gaza, its troops prepare to face a maze of narrow streets, vast tunnel networks, booby traps, and sniper positions.

In this urban environment, the D9R armoured bulldozer, affectionately nicknamed Doobi or 'Teddy Bear', will be essential for a successful assault.

A ground operation in the dense residential districts of the Palestinian enclave will require specialized equipment to clear the way for the 300 tanks and 173,000 soldiers massing on the border.

Should fighting break out, the Israeli-modified Caterpillar bulldozer will be used to detonate mines and improvised explosive devices and to demolish obstacles in the path.

With 15 tonnes of added armour and a reinforced blade, the D9R is almost impervious to guns or explosives and will play a key role in allowing infantry to advance safely.

Nicknamed Doobi or 'Teddy Bear', the D9R is the latest generation of D9 armoured bulldozers which were first deployed by the Israeli Defense Force in the 1950s.

It is 26.2ft long x 13ft tall x 14.7ft wide (8m long x 4m tall x 4.5m wide) and weighs 62 tonnes.

The vehicle is equipped with a large front blade and rear ripper attachment for clearing obstacles and detonating explosives.

The armoured cockpit has room for a crew of two who are protected by bullet-proof glass against sniper and machine gun fire.

The D9R can also be equipped with a mounted machine gun, grenade launcher, or smoke projector.

Over 100 were deployed in the 2014 incursion Operation Cast Lead, a 22 day assault killing into Gaza by Israeli military forces.

In 2018, the Israeli army revealed the D9R Panda, a remotely operated version of the vehicle

Counter-terror police have arrested a 22-year-old woman after a student gave a speech calling Hamas terror attacks on Israel 'beautiful and inspiring'.

Hanin Barghouti, an elected women's officer at the University of Sussex students' union, was filmed addressing a protest in Brighton on Saturday organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Describing herself as a Palestinian, Ms Barghouti said: 'Yesterday was a victory. For freedom fighters to break out of a 15-year blockade so successfully under the inhuman genocide of Israel was so beautiful and inspiring to see.

'It shows the world that we will always fight and always resist and we need to celebrate these acts of resistance because this was a success. Revolutionary violence initiated by Palestinians is not terrorism - it is self-defence.'

Earlier that day Hamas terrorists had crossed the border with Israel and attacked Israeli civilians, including 260 revellers at a music festival.
Today, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) said a 22-year-old woman from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with footage of the demonstration to contact them.

Superintendent Petra Lazar from Sussex Police said: 'After reviewing footage from the protest event held in Brighton on Sunday 8 October, the matter was investigated by CTPSE. We will continue to support them as they conduct their investigation.

Meanwhile, here in Canada, a leaked memo from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, tells on air reporters and news anchors not to use the term "terrorists " but to use the term "militants " instead.

link. MSN

For those who do not know. CBC is a national TV and radio network in Canada, which is partly funded by taxpayers, through the Federal Government of Canada. The CBC has a long and inglorious history of siding with the leftists, and then defending it's self using "weasel words " to wriggle away from their reporting.

I am ashamed that one of our national media outlets is so twisted by the politics of their top management. JimB.

You do know why Hamas is saying "stay," right? They are sacrificing their families in order to have another reason to call for more "days of rage." They are not allowing their own families to leave so that they can further the "kill all Jews, Americans, and other infidels" agenda. Which, I assume is every single person reading this thread.

I'm sure many are. But as always, in wars, many will be just peaceful ordinary folks. More babies and children will die.

We know that Hamas struck Israel first. Rose, you've made it very, very clear that you don't want Israel to strike back.

What is your solution, Rose? Do you expect Israel to do nothing? Should they simply accept that murderous attacks happen and they have to accept these attacks because it's OK for Hamas to kill Israelis but it's not OK for Israel to retaliate?

------------------

There are reports that in the wake of Israel's warnings to Palestinians to evacuate, Hamas is telling them to stay in place, do not leave their homes.

France bans all pro-Palestinian protests

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central Paris on Thursday, in defiance of a controversial new ban on pro-Palestinian rallies in the country.

French police and members of the gendarmerie worked to disperse the crowds with tear gas and water cannons, visuals showed.

Congress boosts security over Middle East tensions

The U.S. Capitol complex is enhancing security due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas, the House and Senate's top security officials said in bulletins on Thursday.

Why it matters: The notice cites Hamas leadership's call for a global "Day of Rage" on Friday, which also has the Israeli government on high alert.

NYPD suits up, expands patrols for mass protests, possible violence as Israel-Palestinian war rages
Mayor Adams, Gov. Hochul and top NYPD brass assured New Yorkers there are no credible threats to the city or state.

“With large-scale protests planned for tomorrow, we must remain vigilant,” Adams said at a Thursday evening news conference. “New York City is the most diverse city in the world, and protecting our residents is the most sacred responsibility that we have.”

Law enforcement steps up patrols of Jewish houses of worship, businesses as calls for attacks in the U.S. intensify online

Local and federal law enforcement agencies across the U.S. are stepping up their patrols of Jewish houses of worship, Jewish-owned businesses and Israeli diplomatic buildings as calls for attacks on the Jewish community in the U.S. intensify online.

Former Hamas leader Khaled Mashal recently called for Friday to be a global day of "anger" in support of the recent Hamas attack on Israel, which has left over 1,300 Israelis dead. He said demonstrations would send a "message of rage to Zionists and to America."

{shrug} It's just an idea. I've already said where I suggest we move them to (New Mexico), etc. And of course, it would require the full acceptance of the Israelis. It's not a mandate, it's an invitation. Not sure why it has your panties in a knot.

And the logistics would get worked out. Every year, 15 million US households move, with 3 million people moving interstate.
How about this as an Idea.
You & your entire family are moved to Los Angeles, California. The people you displace to be able to accommodate you & your family will be moved to No. Dakota. The people displaced in No. Dakota will be moved to Florida. This will continue until the only place left to relocate would be a deserted island.

The logistics of jobs, homes, & disruption to all concerned would be worked out by ?
