If not under the Stockholm syndrome, then they've been threatened if they don't repeat what they have been told by Hamas to say, the rest of the hostages will be killed. Imagine if some of those hostages are your family members still held.

A third possibility is that you have just been mentally screwed up to the point that you can no longer think or function on your own because of the brutality you watched & experienced first hand. You haven't been able to process it because you are still living it.

With those thoughts in my mind, I can't take what any individual released is saying as being accurate at all. It's just another way for Hamas to spread their propaganda.

What are they saying?

Reports I read and saw have them describing constant hunger, darkness, fear, hopelessness... One of 'em is quoted as saying "We haven't slept ever since and we cry at night."

I haven't kept up with most, but I'll never forget the haunted look in Yocheved Lifshitz's eyes when released. She hugged a terrorist and said they were nice to her. There was blankness in her eyes. It was... strange. They still had her husband held hostage (still do for all I know.) And then there was Yasmin Porat who recently was suddenly released to spread the message that Israel had killed the little girl instead of the brutal terrorist attack on 7 Oct. It's not surprising that Hamas is playing this game, but it *is* surprising that people buy it.

The teachings of the Buddha and Jesus are similar and aimed at self-improvement - not controlling other people. This is the concept of religion Americans apply to all religions. They don’t know how to cope with one like Islam that is a political system with civilian laws for controlling other people and prescribed punishments for breaking the laws. It would be like the Democratic or Republican Parties suddenly announcing they are a religion and throwing some Praise Gods into their platform.

Maybe Herd/Sheeple Mentality? No critical thinking skills being used, and taking a stand on an issue because it seems to be "the thing to do." Stuff like that has always infuriated me. There are videos on YouTube where the content creator goes to protests and rallies... asks people what they're protesting. It's very hard to believe how many of them get a "uh, duh" look on their face and say things like "well, I don't know exactly... my friend told me we have to be here." Gotta be fair to those murderous terrorists, by diddly... gotta run with the herd... wouldn't want to offend the murderers and rapists. 😡

I don't think that was a "desperate bid for international sympathy". It was the horrible murder of a child. That in of itself brought anger, sympathy (both, rightfully so) and grief. I'm beginning to think the the term "War is hell" is an understatement! :(

The returned Israeli prisoners looked in good shape. The few I saw on TV. That woman who tried to blow herself and others up, permanently disfigured. Hugged and kissed by another woman. I wonder if she was hugged and kissed on her way to her terrorist attack.

She is Kay Burley, a presenter for a morning program on Sky News. He is Eylon Levy who is a spokesman for the Israeli government.

The "blood on their hands" did it because of how I feel about the kidnapped baby! As more news comes out I see traumatized children as well, kids who are also thinner because of a lack of food!

Well I'm certainly not condoning the kidnapping of anybody for any reason, but surely you do understand that the Israeli's also have blood on their hands, with the 10,000+ civilians killed so far in Gaza.

I've skimmed through your thread Paco, and frankly, having spent months and years reading lots and watching tons of videos from all sorts of involved individuals, I'm always surprised at how little most people know about that 'conflict'. Mind you, I didn't know either until about 10 or 12 years ago either, so I certainly can't crow about anything. But there came a moment when my curiosity was aroused and I was off and running. I tend to be one of those people who, when an idea or issue becomes a bee in my bonnet, is compelled to dig into it in depth.
