It comes in a can you know...

I buy very little in cans ,however I do buy the tiny canned salmon in chilli with oil and i always have a couple of cans of peeled tomatoes in the pantry.

Summer time I always have two, cans of evaporated milk in the fridge just in case I make a milk / jelly ( not jam:)) whipped desert

One of the discoveries in retirement was that taking time to prep food from scratch helped with our health. Awhile back we bought some canned tomato sauce when we ran out of home made. Had a metal taste and a little saltier than we like. It's not like we never ate canned products, we did out of convenience when we both were employed.

Having access to literally thousands of recipes online makes meal planning a breeze.

That’s the very reason I buy / eat as much fresh food as we can (y)

at least I know the veggies I buy are grown in Adelaide .

I bought sliced ham yesterday of 6 lots of ham they had only one was branded as Australian it was $5 kg dearer than imported but i still purchased the Aussie product .

I'm the same. Local, first, at any cost, over all other options.

does australia not get any imported food ever? not even the fresh foods?

most of the US foods are imported i think. not 100% sure so don't quote me on it.

We have allot of imported foods most frozen fruits are from New Zealand
however it’s been advertised it’s sent from china to NZ for processing before being sent here
Another reason I grow my own apricots / peaches / plums which in bottle as well as stewing / freezing some .I also have a lemon / 3 apple trees
I was a Victim of being poisoned by imported frozen mixed berries about 3 years ago
(Hepatitis A ) Of course they got away with it by saying it’s only at temporary Illness
For this very reason I check the label on any canned or bottled product I intend buying

i've never had that experience but honestly i don't know that this would stop me from eating that product again. i can't worry about all those kinds of things all the time or i'd go nuts. but, i'm glad that it works for you @Kadee46 . :)
