It is by the bed...

Perhaps the "weirdest" thing we keep near the bed is a Fire Extinguisher. We live way out in the country, and under the best of circumstances, it would take a half hour for a fire dept. to respond to a house fire. So, we have placed extinguishers in the bedrooms, kitchen, basement, garage, etc., just to be on the safe side. At least, if something were to happen in the middle of the night, we should be able to clear a path to the door.
Funny, I do the same thing. I'm not only a long way away from help, but they would have to bring the water truck down here. There are no hydrants.

Clothes pins. I can't sleep unless it is completely dark. I have black out drapes but sometimes the sun streams in through the little crack between the drapes in the middle. I slip a couple of pins on after I close them at night. It doesn't damage the drapes and works great. I keep them in a plastic bag in my bedside table.

Nothing "weird" by my bed; well, I guess some people would consider a bedside Glock weird.
Ya know, "A real gun?" o_O
"With real bullets?" o_O
"Are you crazy?"
Well, I am a wheel (revolver) man and prefer a hammerless 38 snub nose with a front sight you can see in the dark. If you pull the trigger and it doesn't go "bang", you pull the trigger again.

No safeties to mess with in the dark and no slide to pull back (I did have rotator cuff surgery which taught me that being able to operate with one hand might be important), and no snags. I also chose a 38 because I don't want to lose my hearing if I had to fire a 357 inside the house. I also don't want a high powered round penetrating the wall and injuring a family member

Granted, if I find myself in a protracted gun fight, I am outgunned.

I would have greatly preferred having a revolver over the 45 that I periodically had to carry when I was in the Navy. Part of that may be that for some reason, autos always looked kind of ugly to me. ….and AK47's and AR15's are just "BUTT Ugly."

Yes, a good revolver is great, too. I got a Ruger LCR last year. So light, it feels like a toy.
Before Glock came out in the '80's, I also considered the reliability factor. But after 6 Glocks with over 18,000 rounds without a malfunction.......

My I phone...Always have to be by my bed...So does my husband have his I phone....You never know when our kids
or family may need us in a hurry....When my husband had a heart attack...I had my phone and called my son, in
the middle of the night....
Our Extinguisher is right out in the hall of our bedroom...
I do have my Nook, by my bed, I read before I go to sleep...
If we have to get out of our bedroom, we just take a right and open the door to the garage....
We also have a great door out to our back yard from our sun room...
Also our back door from the Utility room and many window's in our house...
