It took me 5 times to get "Captcha" correct...

Welcome, Michelle. Sunday? Sunday is about the same as any other day around here. The Spousal Equivalent usually watches football or Nascar and I putt around as usual.
Sounds like a perfect Sunday actually...

Welcome,, another that can't sleep.
Am a late night reader.

Tell us about yourself , Hobbies, etc.
I will tell you my hobbies, but then you have to tell me yours.

I'm also a late night reader and movie watcher. I discovered meditation and journaling recently, which somehow led me to collaging and junk journaling. They're calming, quiet activities. I love it. When I sit down with all my scraps and start cutting & pasting, suddenly 2 hours went by and I didn't even notice. So that's the definition of contentment I think. Just losing yourself in something fun.
I'm a farmer's market enthusiast. My favorite one is a bit of a drive and only open on Tuesdays, but it's worth it. There's nothing like coming home with a big basket of fresh fruits, vegetables, and Amish baked goods on a warm summer evening.

The big thing right now is that I'm ready to adopt a fur baby. As exciting as this is, there's also a lot to it. I'm going to be a new parent. I'll have to set up the nursery (just kidding...kind of). I could use a little advice on this. It sounds like the easiest thing to do, but now I've realized there is A LOT to adopting a pet. Right now, I have my eye on a few Labrador Retrievers and also some cats. I can only pick one though and that's going to be so hard.

Okay, your turn! And anyone else who wants to join in, please do.

Welcome Michellle,

I used to be a light sleeper until I was prescribed drugs and they usually knock me out. Last night I slept for 12 hours . It seems like such a waste of time. Now if I don’t have coffee, I’m dragging my butt around.

Are you retired?
Do you have grandchildren to spoil?
What are some of your favourite things to do?
Hello Patty, my fellow insomniac friend. I was on medication that did that to me too a few years ago. I had to stop taking it. So once in awhile I'll take a Benadryl or half a shot of Nyquil. It's so frustrating though, isn't it? Sleep should just come natural and not be a struggle, but here we are. Coffee is a great way to wake up but it's also a necessity in the morning. I go from my bed straight to the coffee maker when I wake up.

Part of the problem is I'm still dealing with Post Menopause anxiety attacks and night sweats. I swear some nights, it feels like torture. And my doctor said it can take up to 10 years after menopause for all the symptoms to go away. Okay enough complaining about that or I'll end up writing a 2-hour post about it and no one wants that.

I don't have grandchildren, so I decided to get a pet lol. Do you have grandchildren? I have an adult son but he doesn't seem interested in having kids anytime soon, even though I keep telling him to hurry up.

I'm "kind of" retired and this will require some explaining. I don't want to be retired yet, but I will be turning 56 in a few days. At my age, job searching is a very real challenge and that's putting it mildly. So what I've learned is that ageism (for both men & women) definitely exists. I have to look outside my state for a job. If I find one I have to move out of state. And I will end up making about 20% less.

So I'm reluctantly retired (I'm okay financially though) and apparently, too old to hire. So lately, I've been considering what young people call side gigs like InstaCart or DoorDash delivery. I'm not joking. I'm actually looking into it. No one cares about your age as long as they get their food delivered. And to be honest, it doesn't sound like a bad side gig.

Favorite things: I just posted some hobbies elsewhere. But, quick recap - calm, relaxing, slow-paced activities like collaging, meditation, journaling, road trips, day trips, farmers' markets, occasionally trying new recipes when the mood strikes, doing things around the house, libraries and old bookstores are my sacred sanctuaries, taking a walk around the park.

I don't have any friends or in a social group but I want to change that. I've isolated myself for too long and it's not healthy. But it's not easy making friends at my age as it was in high school. I don't even know where to begin! I guess being on here is a first step in that direction though.

Your turn! So what do you like to do? Are you retired? Grandchildren? Pets?

Hello and welcome. If you're a cyclist you may have problems with CAPTCHA if it asks you to find traffic lights :ROFLMAO: :p 😇

I prefer the buses or motorcycles. When I have to do the traffic lights, I know I'm going to be there for awhile...

Good day and welcome!

Sunday morning for me is grocery shopping at 7A.M., I would go earlier but that's when they open. After that I clean the house, so that puts me at around 9A.M.

The rest of the day I make up as I go, life is good.
Sounds like you're happy with the simple things in life too. ☺️

Although the majority of the SF members are Americans, there are people on here from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and the European nations. Jimb In Toronto.

Welcome to Senior Forums 👍There are quite a few people here who have sleep problems too. I'm one of them. Then at times I sleep for 10, 12 hours from being mentally and physically exhausted. I hope you find enjoyment here; lots of interesting, fun, educational threads here . I'm in Ohio and 66. I live with my little dog 🐕. Take care!

Thank you Ruthanne!

G'Day Michelle, nice to meet you. I too have trouble falling asleep. The trouble is, I have an overactive mind and too good a memory.
Do you go on social media like Twitter? I had to delete my account because I was afraid I would never fall asleep again.

3 AM here...

I'm in your time zone. Up since 12:45 am. Couldn't sleep. Miss these two:

Buffy, left, and Max. Sunday was their 18th Birthday only they are no longer alive. Max died at 15.9 and Buffy had her 17th last year. She died last 6/9 and took a chunk of my heart with her. Miss them so much. Always together.

Adopted a new brother/sister team last September. Louie and Gidget. Eventually their presence might exceed my loss. I'm 74 and I assume they wil be my last cats. Gidget licking my neck right now and purring mightily!

Awwww! Thank you for sharing, Pepper. ❤️ Buffy and Max look so relaxed. I'm sorry to hear they passed, but they had a great mama while on this earth. I'm sure Louie and Gidget are happy to be new family members and although they can't replace Buffy and Max, I know they will bring you joy.

How are today, Pappy in Florida? I haven't checked the Florida weather report, but I hope you have warm temps and sunny skies! I'm in Pennsylvania where it's rainy season. A little too much rain actually (almost 2 weeks straight). Today it was clear skies, so I sat outside and just basked in the sunshine. Ahhhh! Good for the soul! ☀️
We are very hot right now Michelle. High 80s and low 90s which brings severe rains and lightning. Our next door neighbors left for PA last week. Somewhere around the Erie area. Enjoy your good weather. ☀️

Sorry for the late response. Somehow I forgot.
I’m not sure if it’s early dementia but I’m going to say it is. There’s gotta be some good excuse cause your post was definitely response worthy.

I don’t have children so no grandchildren. Like yourself, I have pets whom I adore. They are my everything.

What types of things to you like cooking?
I like cooking too. There are many things I like cooking. Pasta dishes with homemade tomato sauce from scratch, chicken curry with rice, blackened haddock with air fried potatoes, BBQ chicken wings, full turkey dinner with all the trimmings( Christmas style)

Like yourself, I’ve isolated myself for years now so don’t have many friends but the friends I do have are good friends whom I’ve known for years. Since I moved, I never see them any more but I write to them. Snail mail.

What do I like to do? I paint ( water colouring ) but give all my pictures away. I sing and play saxophone; both alto and soprano. I’ve got a thread somewhere on here.

Some of my Vocals and Saxophone Playing ( Music )

Two small dogs. One is 10, the other just turned 2. I used to have a cat but she died last autumn. She was 18. We had a Yorkshire terrier but lost her 2 years ago. She was 15. And I get so close to them that when they die, I feel a part of myself dying with them.

I’ve got a husband of nearly 35 years whom I adore. He is my best friend. I get along great with his family. I write to them from time to time. I don’t talk to them on the phone cause it makes me nervous. I’m scared of saying the wrong thing. I’ve got mental health issues which makes it hard to get close to people. Instead I paint things for them or write poetry. They seem to like it so I continue.

I have a few people on this site whom I consider friends. They accept me worts and all. They know who they are. One person I’m especially close to. Speaking about writing a book. I’m rambling on here. Anyway, I hope you like this site as much as I do. I’ve been here 6 years 2 months.

P.s.
Your avatar pic sure is cute.
You look very healthy.
Have a great day. 💕

But I'm finally here!

So yes, I'm new to the website. I've been looking for a mature forum for awhile and came across this one.
It's almost 4 AM and I figured this would be the best time to come on and introduce myself. Also, I have terrible insomnia. I will update my profile soon, but not at this ungodly hour...

So what does everyone do on a typical Sunday? I usually cook, do laundry, and watch a movie. After that, I think about all the things I should be doing in the upcoming week until I'm really stressed out and have to meditate to relax.

Anyway, good very early morning, everyone!
We're old. I wouldn't necessarily call us mature.
But welcome anyway!

I have nights of insomnia, too, and often get up at 4 just because I'm tired of trying by then.

I try not to work on Sunday. It's about the only commandment I find easy to follow. I do watch a movie like you do.
