Not sure how I arrived at this stage of life, but it's good to have company on the journey.

I had a look around and this seems like an intelligent, helpful and wise community. I hope I will add a little something to it.

Currently my husband and I live in Upstate New York with our Lab. (Recently we lost our English Mastiff unexpectedly and I'm still healing from that.) We moved here from Ocean City, Maryland 2 yrs. ago.

It'll be nice to get to know you. Thanks for having me.

Hi joanieb. Glad you're here. Sorry about the loss of your pet. I lived in Seaford, Delaware for a time & often went to Ocean City, Maryland. Loved it. I liked it much better than Rehoboth Beach.

Ah yes. Land of the Cardiff Giant and the Farmers Museum. And course, the Baseball Hall of Fame. Been there several times over the years.

Hello Joan. Just joined up here now and nice to meet you. My brother has had bull mastiffs for years along with beagles. He calls the mastiffs "gentle giants". Lovely breed and my heart is with you now.

Thank you both! I need to check out some of the threads - been busy trying to dig out of our 20" of snow!

Gael - I appreciate that. We are going to get another friend for our Lab but it still feels too soon.

Joanie, it probably does feel too soon but it certainly helps ease the pain and will give you another pet to love. Back to my brother; whenever they lost one of their mastiffs they would get another. It helped them deal with the loss.

I hope your new doggie will help bring healing to your heart.
