It's official I've finally lost my mind !

Part of the issue in retirement is the loss of the Schedule Anchor known as "Employment."

When I have appointments (doctor, church events, whatever,) they go in the following places:

-Physical calendar on my fridge
--I can see my entire month, and have a magnet that I put on the current day

-My Yahoo email Calendar feature set up with email reminders
--I sometimes set up a reminder for a day or two before to put it on my radar screen, as well as "the day of"

-My Smartphone calendar (never used it before retirement)
--If someones asks my availability on a given day, I need my schedule with me, 'cause I dunno

-During some busy times of the year (usually holidays with 3 churches and community service stuff) I gotta lay things out in a spreadsheet
--I'll have days with multiple events across the county, and sometimes the surrounding counties, with different people I gotta give rides to

When I was working I didn't need all this. I pretty much knew when there was a break in my routine.
Now I have no routine from which to deviate...everything is an exception.

I guess it's from being quarantined but I realized today that I have officially lost my mind. I never remember what day of the week it is, but I've been doing that from when my husband retired. But today I was watching a show on TV and in one of the scenes the family is having Thanksgiving dinner. I started to think if I had gotten my turkey yet. And if I had gotten all the normal things I make for thanksgiving. I asked my Husband what he thinks we need because it will only be him and I this year having Thanksgiving dinner. He gave me a strange look and I asked him what was wrong. He said to me "Barbara, it's only May now." I thought at first he was crazy until he convinced me that it is May. So yes it is official I have lost my mind.
Sassy, you're not alone, don't feel too badly over this. I recently put my aluminum foil in the kitchen food cabinet instead of in the usual cabinet with the plastic wrap and tupperware. First time I've done this, and it was before the coronavirus issue. I think that sometimes when we have other things on our minds, which distract us from thinking clearly in the moment, it can be understood.

Similar to when we try to multi-task, whether I was young or old, sometime it worked out perfectly and sometimes I failed to give attention to everything I was trying to do at the same time.

Please don't say you lost your mind, if anything, forgive yourself....after all, you are only human....hugs. 💚
