It's probably time to say my goodbyes.

I've found pretty consistently that people from all countries on this forum are ok criticizing their own countries, but take some offense when those comments are made by others.

Not much different from people feeling free to say one of their kids or siblings is a pain, but if I hear someone else say it... well, they'll defend their kin to the death.
Nicely said! 🫂

Please, let's not have a third person get into this argument. I think very highly of both @Medusa and @hollydolly, and if they have something they need to work out none of us needs to add fuel to the fire.

Okay, I just meant that is between the two of you. Not the rest of us. I will not take sides. I am Sweden in this situation.

Some members are clearly defensive and are looking for arguments, even when the thread is about someone else who is struggling. Thank you for calling it as you see it.

@CaliS just wondering why you posted a laughing emoji on the above. Believe me, it wasn't a laughing matter when I was going through it.

I am really struggling
It seems to me it's a matter of some individuals are so miserable with themselves and their own lives that all they want to do is wreak havoc on other people.. even total strangers.

(Again, just a topic/observation, not referring to anyone who's posted in this thread.)

leave me out of it like I say I barely know who this person is... ... as I predicted if I say anything regardless of how small a negative comment..there's always one or 2 who will attack fiercely.. and I was proven right within minutes.. with a vicious, verbal onslought....

well tbf to the commonwealth countries we do take it on the chin a lot, and often agree wholeheartedly... if it's true... however that can't be said the opposite way around.

Stay or go, just don’t let anyone run you off! 🤗
Firstly to all who only read the thread title I'm not leaving, unless Matrix gets sick of my attitude. I did get a 10 day ban for something I posted. I was a little surprised but it's Matrix's forum to run any which way they want Love it, leave it or get shown the door.
I intend to stick around but, and it is a big but, if things get nasty it goes where it goes.
By way of background, I heard that the other seniors forum was a bit bigoted so I joined up and it was full of bigots. In less than 24 hours I was banned.

This from the woman who got defensive about her country because I said my husband wanted to find an air conditioner for my English boyfriend. 😅

You know what else is a huge flaw, Holly? Saying insulting, mocking ("mercian") things about Americans on an American dominated site. Your comment is rude and classless.
Oh come on. A lot of Americans are just very proud of their country and can't take a joke. I do get it, because for instance on Bored Panda, some stupid site, every month or so there is an article that bashes America. Always the same stupid stuff. We do everything better in Europe. I started to defend the Americans. Can you blame them for getting mad? It's irritating.

That is in Holland too. I think it's hilarious when someone makes fun of my country. To be honest it can even make me proud. 'They're lousy to their guests, rude and don't bother to cook something normal.' Yes! Yes! That's us! Proud to be Dutch! Hup Holland Hup!
But it can get irritating because they feel superior. We feed our guests in India. Oh golly really? But you don't mind letting them starve while you live like a luxury ass and then I have to send money because you can't even take care of your own people.

The Americans are individually charming but not so collectively.
Some are charming. Some are not. Just like any other country. Collectively, the citizens of any country are people of different attitudes. Like you, I can find a lot of fault with America, but it's a waste of time to hate it. I can't fix it. I just live here. I didn't ask to live here, but it's where I am. If it got bad enough, I would move to Canada, but only because I know Canada better than any other country. It's not perfect there, but I find face to face Canadians to be mostly nice.

I have met a lot of people on the internet who hold me responsible for my country. I could even feel their hate. I don't like being hated or judged because of where I live. I prefer that people get to know me first, and then pass judgement. Maybe they will still hate me, but at least it's for personal reasons, not for some collective culture that I have to live with too.

By all means find a forum in your own perfect country.

I’m getting really tired of having to go along with every whim. It feels like no matter what, I’m always the one expected to adjust, agree, or accommodate without any real consideration in return. It’s exhausting.
They will be staying here, I am certain.

There are more than one.. unsure which you're referring to..

It runs on the same provider as this one and it's a 2.0 club
I haven't found many other alternative seniors forums and I'd appreciate a heads up on the more open minded ones.
