Jazz Anyone?.. Post the ones you enjoy....

For sax guys, I used to play a game with myself to try to identify them.

Getz is BY FAR the easiest to pick.

If it is later period Coltrane, this is fairly easy, too.

Paul Desmond is almost as easy as Getz.

Parker was pretty easy to pick, his early bebop was fairly distinct, but I could mistake him for several guys, often.

Two guys whom I've heard a lot without first knowing who they are (like this jazz internet station I listened to for years, never tell you so you had to look at the ID3 metadata as it streamed) and these guys really impressed me with lots of diffferent good stuff were Dexter Gordon and Cannonball Adderly.

Art Pepper was a phenomenal player, I could not easily identify him, but lots of times I'd think: wow, this is good! Who is it? Often Pepper.

Jazz, like all the music I listen to, runs the gamit from smooth to really out there.
My favorites all have something I call a 'hook'. Something in the song just 'fits' and drags me in.
One of those extreme players is Rahsaan Roland Kirk, blind from the age of 2, he is a multi-instrument and circular breathing master.
