Just a quick note

It was an Inappropriate and Disrespectful post. I was very surprised by its appearance on a thread for Remembrance.

Based on that then, maybe it’s best for us all to now let it lie, or else over time it will 'feel' as though the original disrespectful post (accidently posted or otherwise) still exists.

Lest we guard ourselves over moral superiority............geesh give it a rest..........it's not like any of us were at D-Day.........

It was necessary - I don't always do cool dude - he was defending his honour and I mine - call for additional efforts. He could have shared it publically no sweat for me? - I still don't really know what he is talkin about cos the full texts have not been shown but removed.

this is a recent message I received and responded to regarding this matter:

https://www.seniorforums.com/conversations/grow-up.69815/

as you can see I have explained that I am accustomed to visiting several other forums each day and debating - and cannot not recall this at all - I am quite happy to apologize if someone would be prepared to explain what has happened and can let me see what their concerns are still ?? - these things happen on forums everywhere and can often be resolved with further explanations etc but to just wipe it all out and leave it unresolved doesn't solve anything or improve relationships.
You basically stated that ALL military members are only in the military for their own selfish agenda. It was quite a lengthy post where you hammered away this idea of yours.

The reality is that people voluntarily join to fight and defend their country. They risk their very lives so the rest of us can live safely and free from enemies invading us. Some people who might not have it in them to fight and kill have had to sign up regardless of how they felt.

Many of these brave souls lost their lives, lost limbs, lost their mental functioning as well as their souls. Many , if not most come back with PTSD which is a horrendous thing to deal with who many never recover from.

Joining the military is a considerably courageous selfless thing to do and many don’t make it. Family members are often lost leaving many grieving for their loved one. The unrelenting turmoil many go through is heart wrenching. Many members here have lost loved ones while at war and many lost loved ones after the war . Ones whose minds were constantly still at war who took their own lives due to the relentless torment.

In my humble opinion, every single person who has signed up to fight for their country should be thanked and honoured for the dedicated service. These people sacrifice their very lives for the rest of us who get to sit at home and watch Walt Disney movies.

I personally thank every person who has fought for their country. It’s got to be one of the most honourable things a person can do.

Your post was a slap in the face to all concerned, which is basically EVERYONE !!!

Please think before you post.

Thank you for getting it. Not much sets me off but this did.

And one of the most precious things the American military fights for is the Individual's Freedom to Speak, even if no one else likes it, especially if no one likes it.

About time we take davey off the pariah post he's been hung on. Let he who casts the first stone be free of their own sins. Enough already, righteousness can be a killer. Get over yourselves.

Nope… he should be hung out to dry.
Instead of coming in to apologise he added more fuel to the bonfire with post #31

I think free speech has to come with some wisdom concerning when and where to speak. You're not going to go into a mosque and bad-mouth the Quran or Muhammed just because you have the freedom to do so. Or you won't go into a synagogue spewing anti-semitic crap. Maybe this issue was about disrespecting anything military on a remembrance thread for those who died... and posted for Memorial Day?

I would not have posted what I did if Davey hadn’t ASKED. He wasn’t sure what he posted and why others were so upset. I responded to HIS request AND gave credit where credit was due.

Free speech does not come with qualifications and don't bother telling me about shouting Fire in a crowded theater. What is being displayed here is mob mentality, on a forum scale.
Not qualifications... wisdom. If I'd do what I mentioned in a mosque, I really wouldn't expect anyone inside to wave and say "have a nice day, come again sometime." I have freedom to do it, but the minute I'd stick my toe over the threshhold, I'd know the probable outcome and would have to decide whether to turn around and leave or stir the pot.

is davey being picked on, against forum rules?
I'm all for free speech, but it isn't permitted everywhere. As far as I'm concerned, his post should have remained for all to see. However, he shouldn't have tried to post the PM. It's called "Private Message" for a reason. His post and the PM were deleted. He didn't delete them. Is that "being picked on, against forum rules"?

I’m sorry squatting dog. I feel guilty for taking you into coming back.
I’m sorry for your own life experiences which resulted in PTSD. I’m sorry for the loss of your daughter who served in the military who took her own life due to PTSD.

PTSD is a torturous disorder which many veterans suffer with. When I saw the post about the military, I instantly thought of you and how you’d feel reading that. I thought of all the other men and women who served in the military, some who didn’t even want to be there. My thoughts went out to all of you who had to endure the pain and torment of WAR.

My thoughts went out to our Shali who also suffers from PTSD and yet still treats all the veterans suffering from PTSD.

I’m not sure why the post was there and wish I hadn’t read it but I did. I wish I didn’t respond the way I did. When I was younger I despised the military and what it stood for . No part of me believed in violence for any reason but as I’ve aged I’ve come to realize that the military is essential to protect the countries which we all live in. Some people volunteer for it , some people don’t but the end result is still the same. People die. Good people die who don’t deserve to doing a job that has to be done.

It’s horrible that we have to deal with WAR. Maybe WAR is all for business. Maybe war is needless. Maybe war is a complete waste of time and effort. I honestly don’t have any answers. What I DO know is that MANY have suffered because of it . Relatives of these people suffered. Mothers, wives, sisters, brothers, fathers , children , babies …. none of which wanted or deserved this.

Maybe there is no right answer to WAR but we can’t lose our compassion for those who have suffered due to it.

I sincerely apologize if any of my actions were needless. I’ve been known to over react and I am truly sorry if I didn’t react appropriately.

Can you imagine storming Omaha Beach in the first wave with hundreds of Germans bunkered in with machine guns and your in the first boat to come ashore? Can you even begin to imagine what that feeling is like when at that moment, you realize that you are about to die?

Well, can you?
