Just a quick note

I've been fighting an internal battle recently, and I don't need or want need drama in my life at the moment.
However, I couldn't let this davey fellow run down military people with some wide, (and I might add... stupid general statement's) that, if nothing else, show he has never been in or around the military and that would lead me to believe that he suffers from a coward's syndrome. ( aka keyboard commando).
Guarantee he has never walked the walk and it shows.
Could just stick him on ignore, but, dip weeds like that would probably wear that as a badge of honor. (again, something he will never know).
Hope you all understand and I will try to stop in now and then.

On a side note, the wife and all my fur babies are fine.
Special thank you to Peppermint and Radish.
I'm glad to "see" you SD, we were quite concerned! I didn't see the post you are referring to; just saw that the whole thread was deleted. Good for you for standing up for those who gave their time and some, their lives for this country. Anyone who disrespects that has a hole in their soul. I hope that your internal battles are resolved soon. I'm glad you, your wife and fur babies are fine. Take good care.

Can you imagine storming Omaha Beach in the first wave with hundreds of Germans bunkered in with machine guns and your in the first boat to come ashore? Can you even begin to imagine what that feeling is like when at that moment, you realize that you are about to die?

Well, can you?
Most people would think those guys were just plain stupid. But, that was the battle plan. Each time there is going to be a known confrontation with the enemy, a battle plan is made. The Generals who make up the plan know for a fact that they will have casualties and in fact, they will even calculate the number. Like at Normandy, maybe the Generals calculated they would have 22% casualties on the first wave, then maybe 18% on the next wave and so on. Basically, these men were just collateral damage and I know that's a terrible thing to say, but it's the truth. It takes one heckuva' man to do what those men did.

Eisenhower knew that there were hundreds, maybe thousands of Germans on Normandy's Beaches already bunkered in with machine guns waiting for the boats to arrive and the men to be set free to rush the beaches. What would you expect the outcome to be?

Why didn't we first bomb the beaches? We did try, but we had very poor marksman and the ships were too far out. I have heard many different versions from several Generals what they would have done instead of sending men to die. That's called "Monday morning quarterbacking."

Each time I go to Arlington, I always make sure I go to the WWII section and pay my deepest respects. The American Cemetery in Normandy is a place of solitude and beauty.
