It was on Reddit. If it was fake, they'd be all over it. They did have a weird discussion on what kind of elephant it was. The link is in the OP if elephant origins interest you.

Oh, bless that elephant! I love them and I hope he/she is being comforted and given treats with lots of affection if it must be in a zoo.
