I will be 70 in May. I didn't feel "old" until a spontaneous and debilitating back issue cropped up a few weeks ago. Now I'm a regular attendee of Physical Therapy, not so much fun! I'm not ready for these sneaky issues that bring you to your knees. I'm determined not to give in to this. So...I bought a walker (now I feel old), but at least I'm back out on my community walking path. I can see it will be a matter of determination to maintain my activity level from here on out. My mind says "yes", here's hoping my body obeys my mind! Nice to be joining a new community forum. "Hi" to everyone from the Bayous of Louisiana.

If you can afford Dubai and live with that Rich Kingdoms offering you going to do OK. No Booze though most likely. .....:coffee:

I hear you about back issues. My knees bother me and so do my hips too. I have difficulty going up and down steps. I'm thinking of getting a classy looking cane until I can be more steady and balanced on my feet. I hope you have good results with PT. It's helped me in the past. Do you take anything for pain? @charwheel I take some muscle relaxers at times and also use ice packs on my back. It helps me. If pain gets really bad I 'll take a NSAID.

Oh yeah Welcome to Senior Forums 😀

What you describe is evident to most of us here @SF. It only takes one incident to start the mind and body to decline. What was once managable with joint and back pain now begins the road downward with little chance of full recovery. But hey, we are all with you 100%.

Through hard work and determination, I got myself out of a wheelchair ...twice! From wheelchair to walker to 2 canes and then one, and I've been walking mostly unaided for over a decade.

It can be done.
